So I wake up this morning, get into the car, and I feel the clutch is REALLY soft.
I thought perhaps the resistance will come back when the car is switched on.
But alas, clutch is kaput and I cant get into any gear. (ssccrrrrraaaaaaaape)

How does this happen? From working the night before, to absolutely nothing the next morning?
I dont drive the car hard at all. Hell, I have 5 years left to pay the thing off, Im going to take care of it till then.

I have been driving VW all my life, I thought Ford would be a nice change.
I must say, so far, IM NOT HAPPY :(

You do know that Ford is nothing like they were in the previous decades?
The brand is slowly crumbling . . .

Let us know your dealer experience.

I bought the focus 2007 model at 35000km's 2nd hand from ford in rondebosch.

I have yet to take it for a service (every 20 000km's)

I do see a little bit of 'fluid' under the car, i have not investigated to see what it might be (oil, water etc)

I will let you guys know what happens at the dealership. Im busy waiting for AA to come collect the car.
Thankfully (or not) Im off today.

I suspect the previous owner driving the shyte out of your car.
In this country, we get conned evertime, everwhere, and theres nothing we can do about it.

It doesn't only happen here, have you ever bought a car in the DRC;-)

Seriously though, it happens everywhere not just SA.

Well the car has an extended maintenance warranty until 100 000km's. Or 5 years, which ever comes first.
So its Ford's problem. They must sort it out.

Not if the clutch was abused ;)
They will take it out and investigate the damage. One can see from the plates what caused the damage. If it was not abuse they will fix it, if it was....... I think you need R 2k

My dad works for Ford and he says you should not touch them with a barge pole. He is waiting to retire in 2 yrs he says he can't wait to get out of there.

A bit of advice about the extended warranty, they will find any reason to void it, including the fact that you put low profile rims on the car. And they do regular inspections at my dad's company and go through all the cars and void the warranties of cars altered or abused in any way.

Have you actually checked the clutches brake fluid?

Might just be leaking and the thing will be empty. That will also explain why the clutch pedal is soft. I might be wrong as I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, but my moms car has a small leak and she has to refill the brake fluid periodically.

Thanks for the info.
I decided to stick with the original 15" steel rims for now. At least until my current tyres are worn.

If they suspect negligence etc, then they cant point fingers at me. I have only had the car 1 month.

AA is here...goto go....

i had a similar problem with my car a year ago, but its a 1995 bmw...
clutch was very soft and i couldnt get the car into gear at all, had my car towed to the garage and they said it was the clucth pin or something like that. was over R2000 to fix.
i was not amused

I asked for a driver to fetch me, since I dont have a car.
