To properly calculate fuel usage, you don't need the tank size.

Fill your car's tank, preferably to the auto stop.
Note your odometer or set your trip meter to 0.
Drive like your normally do, preferably for as long as possible.
Refill your tank to the same point.
Check odometer and subtract the initial reading, or check trip meter.
Check how many litres went into your tank.
Divide the number of kms done by the number of litres used. Answer is in km/l (my preferred method).
Divide litres used by kms. Multiply answer by 100. Answer is in l/100km (iso method).

I drive a 1.6Si and also get 11L/100km. At the moment I'm doing less than 15km a day so this type of consumption can be expected. On the open road it drops to about 9. Never seen 7 though.
Bit late for the party :p but yea agreed..last two trips to cape town shows me on the best getting 8.5/100km

bought a focus 2013 2.0 gdi ,picking it up tomorrow ,seems they give better consumption

Hi guys.
Anyone driving a Ford Focus or Fiesta?

Please post your fuel consumption stats as I would like to compare notes.

On the ford website, and in various magazines, it states that 7.2l per 100km could be achieved with the Focus 1.6. How this is possible, I would love to know!
Im currently getting about 11l per 110km! And thats while making 'Driving Miss Daisy II'.

I would like some more stats before I approach the dealership and complain about this, because its false information.

I believe it is a 55ℓ tank including the reserve tank. I think the reserve tank is around 10ℓ. So I'm guessing it has a 45ℓ tank.
I could be wrong.

Good Day All

I know this thread has been inactive for almost a year, but I have a quick question.

Currently, I'm driving a 2015 Ford Focus 2.0 ST3 and I'm dying of high fuel consumption.

I drive around 20km a day to work and back and even with no spirited driving at all I cant get a lower consumption than 11-12L/100km. My normal mileage is around 350km on a full tank to empty . . .. thats a bit crazy when you think they claim 8L/100km average.

The car is going for its first service next month and i want to bring this up with Ford, but for now, i wanted to find out what you guys are getting on average.

20km total? or 20km one way? That does not sound too high. How many stops/traffic lights? Short trips mean the car is mostly below normal operating temperature.
