Ford Online Portal/Sync Update

Hi Ford Owner

Is there no online SA portal for Ford owners where you may view warranty information, update SYNC etc.?
I've seen the US one, tried to register but does not recognize SA VIN number.

Have any of you updated SYNC software yourself? And where did you download from?

I was told that only Ford can do this. When you book your car in for a service, ask them to do an update on Sync as well. If they actually do it, is another story on it's own.
 
The US site has instructions on how to do this via USB and also to check versions. i guess we in SA cannot do it.
 
There use to be a link on Ford SA site. Can't find it anymore though.

While searching, I saw Sync 3 has Wifi update functionality. Nice!

What ford sync version do you have? Sync 1, 2 or 3?
I have fiesta sync 1, with My Ford.

Interestingly, this is an ireland site and yet it found my VIN number and displayed the exact year model of my car.
Dont know if there is any differnece in the software though. Are you willing to risk it? Please let me know if you have completed the update and on what sync version.

Yea seems like all other Ford sites has the option except SA. Interestingly the user posted an Ireland site above and that finds my vehicle. Just not sure if i should trust ireland software, not sure of the differences.

I dont have sync 3 so has to be manual update lol.

So I punch in my vin number, it tells me my vehicle doesn't have sync, I laugh thinking it's a 2015 fiesta st. My punches in his vin number and he has an update same car 2015 fiesta st, just red in colour. Did I buy a fake ford?

That or VIN was entered wrong. I found that link pretty interesting even though its an ireland site. It brought up all the details of my vehicle, even manufacture date and the colour etc.

I would also like to know the success of this?
 
Ok so according to the site my sync1 has an update that’s roughly 700mb in size.... might install it tonight and let’s see what happens

Sync 1 with App link? Or the version before that without App link and MyFord (voice control)?

Please let me know how it goes. I've got sync 1 with MyFord and Applink. This version is actually called 1.1 on their site and the size was about 700mb also. Surprisingly it downloaded very fast. Faster than my other downloads on same connection.
Do update us. Although my current version is 5.10 and the update is 5.11 i think. They give no indication of the version number on the site.

I have a Ford Fiesta titanium and if you have the ST then I think we have the same sync version. I already downloaded and have it on my USB. At work at the moment will do it tonight. Will keep you posted

I have ambiente. Thought the titanium would have sync 2 atleast or 3.

Thanks. Also check your current version prior please. And remember to keep vehicle running/key on throughout the process.
Some people mentioned starting the update while actually driving because it takes like 20mins exact.

It just shows no version information. How do i know its not a older version?
 
Hmmm ok after I extracted the downloaded file and read the install file I see that the software version is 5.8. My car currently has that exact same version... don’t know now whether I should still update it or not

Where do you see the version? I have extracted but can't see the version in any file name

The system will say so. Read that on another forum. Ford owners club or something. It's a whole website for Ford owners like MyBB.
