Forum alerts seems to be an issue for me. Makes page load slower too. When I mark all as read, pages open blazingly fast. When notifications pile up again, the forum starts lagging again when opening pages.

Yep, I've used Camtasia too.
I used both for similar reasons.
Camtasia is a great screen recorder. Even if it has a bit more weight, I prefer it in comparison to others.
