Forum improvement suggestions

There is so much whitespace, take a look at any forum page, look how much empty space there is versus the percentage area covered by the useful content, i.e. what people have typed.

A lot of information is duplicated, e.g. if one person wrote something twice in one thread, then all his info is repeated again.

Consider including menu/path located at the top "* Home * Forum * Latest Happenings * Announcements * Forum improvement suggestions" at the bottom instead of just a "Top" button at the bottom. If I am in a sub-forum and I read a thread, I get to the bottom and then wanna go back to sub-forum. I really don't wanna have to click the Back button or worse the Top button and then the sub-forum link. Or maybe I am just lazy?

It is refreshing and does look more modern as opposed to the previous version...
That said, I agree with the fact that the white background needs to replaced....
Avatars need to return, it makes finding a post of an individual, so much easier. As is, it is difficult to differentiate between posters.

I like it!

Well done on the new look MyBB, very impressed with the drastic changes and improvements from the old one, and the new smilies are great too!

The white can be little bright, although I like the general "light" look... keep up the good work!

Me likey the new forum! Especially the formatting options in the quick reply. Being a designer, I notice the forum colours aren't 100% in line with the rest of mybroadband.co.za - but hey, form follows function.

I for one, like the layout and cosmetics very much - It feels "lighter" and cleaner - let's summarize - more modern...

All the additional functionality is always welcome, though I must admit I'm not a "power forumer" :p like some, But hey that leaves me with some more things to discover...

Anyway I say: WELL DONE

Would like to see the ability to place a URL link in the thread title used when opening that particular thread's page.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but when a post a quoted and you click on the little button next to the quoted posters name, it doesn't take you to that post. It takes you to the first page of the thread.

Very frustrating.

What browser are you using?

Very frustrating.

Firefox.

But I suspect that the problem is with the way the links are parsed, rather than the browser. For example, http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?213432-Forum-improvement-suggestions#post3572799 doesn't work, but http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...improvement-suggestions&p=3572799#post3572799 does. It's probably a similar issue with the "Go to first new post" button.

edit: confirmed that there's also a problem with how the links are parsed for the "Go to first new post" button. For example, http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?214013-Internet-users-prevent-online-suicide&p=3572958 doesn't work, but http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...-prevent-online-suicide&p=3572958#post3572958 does.

my 2 cents

Once I post a reply to a thread, i get directed to the top of the page, not the bottom of the page where i just posted my reply. :wtf:
RPM, I mailed u about a related issue regarding the URLs that get mailed to us in the subcription emails.

Also, make the font size a bit bigger in the Post Quick Reply text editor and for the Go Advanced text editor.

K, thx bai :)

Make an iPad / Netbook / Notebook / Mobile PC section so long.

Expect many threads...

What about e-mail notifications when you have a PM, or an auto pop-up notification when you open up the forum website when you have a PM.
