Got told by Telkom 10210 there is a big fault in fourways. My 4mb line uncapped as you can see is on 0.09mbps download speed on speedtest.net.

Please tell me its not just me...

83ARK070312 - Fourways Fault Reference no. to check up on the progress of the area fault.

Very bad in City Bowl Cape Town. Similar results.Telkom acknowledged there was a problem and said they would send someone to the exchange, but it ssems the problem is bigger.

Mine seems to be fine...I know its a telkom wimax connection but some how it ties in with the adsl network if I'm able to use any adsl account on there.

mines, been borked since yesterday, keeps disconnecting every 5-10 minutes since yesterday afternoon

Yeah, something's seriously broken at Fourways, probably also including its upstream parent exchange, Bryanston. Its been buggered at peak times for many weeks, but today something seriously broke. Here is graph of latency on my 4Mbps ADSL to my ISP's DC, normally 11-18ms without congestion, but today its off the charts ...

Probably struggling to commission and synchronise all the MSAN's that were installed in the FWS area.... a major problem, especially as this is the pilot project.

ah, would be nice if there was a message to this affect on the automated fault logging system. Dealt with it for the first time yesterday, no human interaction at all, so will be interesting to see how well it works

I'm back up and running. Getting good speeds. I hope it stays

But, you're in Cape Town, so while I am happy for you, its irrelevant to the rest of us, under the heading of FOURWAYS.

I was told by support under that ticket number, that the exchange has "flat lined"

I.e : we're screwed.

Yep, with 1st hop latencies like these, my terminating ESR could consievably be on the moon instead of Bryanston ...

Now that makes sense - I'm quite curious as to what this pilot project entails? First I hear of it, despite having 2 Telkom technicians at our premises, claiming that nothing is wrong and no upgrades have been performed. One tech just mentioned that he's been pulled from Central Region to assist with damaged equipment resulting from lightning storms. I even managed to speak to 2nd level support at Telkom yesterday and they are oblivious to any problem in Fourways. Like I say - we've been having issues since 16 January. My business is suffering, and I'm sure many other, as all our work is done online. Sick and tired of Telkom at this stage.

I'm still getting 1200ms - 2000ms pings to SAIX this morning, so seems it's still buggered.
