Fourways internet - DOWN

This type of thing, if it isn't fixed by 5pm, it won't get fixed over the weekend will it?

Just off phone with Telkom. They are still working on the exchange.

There's something like 12 DSLAMs at Fourways. AFAIK some have already had their services restored.

If it was my business the techies would not be going home until all services were restored.

MickeyD - I feel the same way.

Unfortunately I am not one of those people with restored services, and now its storming like hell is freezing over so I imagine its only going to be worse in the morning.

2 weeks of useless internet.

About to go into /pissed off mode.

Make sure your service is registered as one of those faulty. Dial 10210 (good luck) and log a billing dispute as you want them to credit your account for the downtime you experienced.

Anyone getting any better speeds?

I am still completely poked at 0.09mbs on speedtest. Technician called me today and PROMISED to call me this afternoon with a solution.

He didn't call back.

Sitting in Douglasdale having called Telkom 4 times over the last 5 days and am amazed that not once did anyone their mention these issues. right now I am more irritated at them wasting my time trying to solve this...

Sitting at 6.1 kbs dl 19.9 kbs ul and 1098ms latency btw...

1098ms latency btw...
Yep, also sitting with over 1000ms local latency in Lonehill.

Congested exchange doesn't quite cut it anymore, thats for exchanges with <1000ms latency. Think we need a new category, constipated exchanges, with Fourways being top of that list.

I'm still having issues in Fourways. Woke up this morning to find the line completely dead / not syncronising. Eventually got them to reset the port. Right now I'm still having huge latency issues. I have a feeling this is going to carry on for weeks if not months.

my service seems to have improved (I'm in Norscot), still a bit unstable but much better than it was, Wednesday afternoon/evening was hell as I was connecting disconnecting every 5-10 minutes which was when I logged my fault, but it had been giving a couple of problems for about a week before that.

Just did a speedtest, if it stays like this I'll be happy

Anyone know if this is causing a problem in the Edenvale area as well? Synced at 4mb but only getting 512Kb download if that. International slow, and speedtest.net i'm getting a 500ms ping to JHB server?

What's going on?

Lucky sod, my latencies have stayed stratospheric (except for 6-6:30am this morning) ...

I am in Edenvale. My line died yesterday at 18H00 or so. Still down. Line is syncing but it ends there.
Internet via tethering for now.

Telkom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF????????????????????

I give up. Had enough. What is the next best solution? Port my line to AfriHost? I hear people are happy..
Or will that make 0 difference - will I be going through the same exchange?

It will make zero difference. Where we live, the exchange is poked, so no matter who you are with until the exchange is fixed, we suffer.

I will phone them again this morning. :(

Thank you. I also called them yesterday - 3 times. They have no knowledge of this btw - at least not the people I spoke to at ADSL fault logging - they insist that nobody has informed them of a fault. I have logged numerous faults. I did have a technician out here last week, told me theres no line problem, it must be at SAIX, and left.

Persnally I have been experiencing this since 16 January.

Ps - I'm in Witkoppen Ext 6. C/O William Nicol & Uranium, opposite Leaping Frog.
Apparently it's Fourways Exchange 03.

You are ****ting me.

The fault number I gave you earlier was for the fourways fault I am told.

I am up Lonehill Boulevard about 800m from Leaping Frog, so are definately on the same exchange. Gonna call them now and ask WTF.

Try this fault number: 83ARK070312

Hahahahahahahahahaah !!! Now my phone line is dead! DSL is up. LMAO!
It's a circus! Let me use my mobile - at least Vodacom comes in handy for once :-)
