Free bandwidth after midnight

This service is initially being introduced as a free trial to test market viability, and ensure that iBurst is able to offer a good customer experience, before officially launching it as a value added service.

Interpretation: "We're going to test this service and if it works we'll start charging for it come July."

All these offers are great. Good to see iBurst making some important moves too... BUT: ZA infrastructure is clearly not ready for this storm. Local Latency between IS/SAIX/MWEB (IPConnect) is taking such a hit. it's become hell for gamers and I'm sure we're not alone. Hopefuly infrastructure can be upgraded in favour of these major ISP's turning their backs on the uncapped idea... More relevantly, is iBurst's wireless infrastructure going to handle the downloaders between those hours on their network? Wireless has the problem of noise when too many users flood the same spectrum.
Well let's see how it goes :)

Slight correction. ZA infrastructure is ready. Peering does not occur on the IP Connect as described. Latency is an issue as all ISPs in ZA do not participate in an open peering policy at CINX/JINX. Often ISPs in ZA peer with each other via international links!
We are quite prepared to engage in open peering at CINX and JINX under the auspices of the ISPA.

Good to see the different ISP's are getting more and more competitive.

although our true competitors in this space are the mobile carriers with 3G,” Van Zyl concluded.

As been said a million times on this forum, I burst cannot be compared to 3G. Its not mobile enough to compare. The true competitor is dsl and they have to at least match them with prices (mebbe a bit more cause you dont have to pay line rental).

Whats gonna happen if LLU eventually get implemented and speed bumps which imo is just a question of time. iburst's trumpcard its gone and so will their customers.

Its still good to see something happening on ibursts side.

iBurst launches ‘free Internet after midnight trial’; free to all iBurst subscribers

Free but they say its gonna be a VAS (Value added system) meaning it is free ( ONLY during the trial) now just like the 64k throttle used to be ... and we all know what happened there.
Hahaha anyone dumb enough to fall for this tactic deserves to get service from Ibull*****.
Really , anyone considering to buy Iburst based upon this should really do their homework on this company and what a dissapointment they are when it comes to billing , service , pricing and the inability to respect its own promises nevermind its clients.

Iburst is over priced , their service is non existent , their technology dated.
Added onto that is the fact you dont need to be a porn star to have more uptime than them.

Is this also for the new student packages?

Spoken with such authority... :)
You also don't have to worry about line installation, and transferring your line if you move, or if you go away you can take iburst with you. Granted, iBurst don't have the coverage that MTN/Vodacom have, but look at their data pricing.

Not even close.
If we had to get stats on how much of the country is covered by Vodacom , MTN or even CellC vs Iburst percentage wise , my prediction is that Iburst covers less than 1% of the country.

Have read all the posts and agree on most of them.

What do we want?
- Better coverage.
- Higher speeds
- Cheaper BW (I mean, R69/gig is insane these days.)

When do we want it?
- NOW

This is great news iBurst. Thanks Guys! Definitely an incentive to stay with iBurst.

Well done IB, finally a semi-competitive product extension.
