If this post already exists my bad, I cund't find it. Point me to the right one.

So far this service sucks badly, l can't even browse for 15mins without it hanging, normal opera mini browses faster even what's worse is you can't even download.

How is this supposed to reassure us after they cudn't drop their per/meg prices? this sucks

Plus a Samsung Pixon (M8800), with Opera Mini loaded and working previously, gets a message from VC that the 'phone model is not supported'.

I have tried all the usual procedures and how many enquiries to Vodacom - no result and no response from VC.

Biggest joke, three (Yes, 3) VC 3G shops could not help - I basically met with blank stares.

same here and i am using the samsung s7350 this really sucks deep

Ha ha ha you guys realy fell for it, vodacom was joking about the opera thing ,they just wanted you to stay onboard while they where scratching their bold heads on how to beat mtn new data bundle rates... lol

Hi OmniMo

According to the list of supported handsets your device is not supported. In order for the service to work you need to have Opera Mini 4.2 or higher ( 5.0)

i have opera installed but that doesn’t work at all , do i have to install a Vodacom optimised opera or any opera from 4.2 will work?

it's been ****ty the whole weekend, only been fast the very first weekend it started. quick comparison last night on opera mini VS opera mobile 10 VS voda free mini thing clearly shows that the voda free one lags really bad.

Hi mazelove

Don't knock the service until you've tried it , if you have a device that supports the service then give it ago you might actually like it ;)

Most likely because there are more users on it now......

However these are the benefits:

• Excellent browsing experience on a mobile device
• Free , no subscription for the use of the Opera Mini client
• Reduces data usage while browsing by 70% – 80%
• Faster page load times
• Easy navigation
• Supports widgets
• Living Icon support: update information within the icon by pulling updates
• User Authentication: Personalization of widgets based on SIM card or login
• Remote updates: Administration of widgets
• Synchronization with Web widgets: View and use Widgets from a PC environment
• View multiple open web pages in a carousel view

though benefits are zero when you get disconnected, loading loop or loading takes 2-5 minutes. however yes when it works it's nice to have. just increase the pipe we all know it's teh right thing to do :D

LOL, besides opera mini has been around for a long time now, we already knew he benefits. We just got tricked, "Free browsing", yeah right, more like "1 minute per page free browsing". Vodacom better come up with something to make up for this

Guys it is a free promotional service until 02 May 2010

use it don't use it

Is the purpose of a promotional service not to get people to use something while it is free so you can fix the bugs and then start charging for it? If so then you should be saying "use it and let's fix the bugs".

Log a call with the 082155 or 082111 call centers if you experiencing Network or software problems.

You go ahead and log a call with your superiors instead VodacomData.

A call stating that we will no longer fall for your cheap gimmicks.
Even more so when they fail from day 1.
