Free data from Vodacom using Opera Mini during the weekend

Vodacom is getting desperate - cannot match MTN data rates, so they come up with this c**p

The enhanced version strips even more formatting and media (pics) and leaves a sparce text version littered with their branding

NO THANX

What I'm guessing they've done is made the Opera turbo servers unmetered. (94.246.126.253). I'm busy fooling around with it, getting to work as a proxy. Anyone got exp with symbian SDK? PC -> symbian phone -> gateway program sending your requests -> free interbutts. :D Will continue to poke and see what that proxy can do and cannot.

P.S. Could anyone link me the file of what they want you to DL (i.e. their opera), want to see if that calls home for anything.

Its not the "baby internet" it will load pages as you would on your pc. I use it all the time. where previously i would search for mobile versions of sites, now i just go to the normal version.

Youtube etc doesnt work on most phones with the standard browsers. If you want to use youtube on your phone, get an app, or use Skyfire.

When MTN announced their new lower OOB rates, they caught VC with their pants down... now is this the best that VC can come up with in response? I've been using OM5 for a few months, I like it alot... but I'm certainly not interested in a VC hacked version... no thanks...

Why don't they just reduce there data charges, instead of trying to trick us with silly gimmicks??

How pathetic ... free mobile browsing! Why not be like MTN and be able to buy 1 day uncapped pass ... even if it is throttled after a while I won't be fussed!

Hmmm, this would be great if the browsing speed wasn't as slow as Tannie Nel when she gets in her Volksie to do the Shopping at the Spar on the corner of Voortrekker and Kalossie Street.

Seriously... web browsing on your cellphone is as exciting as watching cement harden.

I agree gary, the screen is just too small.

Opera mini 5 has a built in Download manager, but Vodacom's "enhanced version" probably excludes that.
Vodacom's Enhanced version sucks and it's a pain to find the proper Opera Mini.

5beta doesn't have a download manager, 5beta2 has.

why not. if the jar/jad can be found on your cell after getting it. transferring it to a pc wouldn't be that hard. then hook up your cell to your pc, phone vodacom and lol bit bigger browsing...

Download a browser called QQbrowser, at www.sharemobile.ro it can download .jar to any specified location on your phone, including .exe or and any other formats.

Does this work with Opera Mobile too?....I have Opera Mobile 10, where does Opera mini 5 fit into the picture, do I need to upgrade?

No Opera Mini only I think. You need to download any of the two special Vodafone Opera Mini. For that go to opera.mini.com after enable setup successfully, then there will be a link to upgrade to a Vlive Opera Mini

total bs ...... ive had opera 4.2 since forever .... sent and sms , tried the link ....... sorry this application is not for your mobile phone . GO LICK IT

Free Mobile browsing + downloads I think, OP 4.2 supports downloads.

Nice innovation from Voda. What's the point of making it last 4 weeks?
