Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

^ Ye I useually get a solid speed of 1mbps but earlier it was running at 160KB/p. If I calculated rite thats 1.3mbps. Wish it stayed like that :/

Darnit, did not get the daily message yesterday, and was (and am still not) able to log in to either the business or home site to check my usage. Oh well, I did carry over 8GB from last month ... Hope I don't get screwed, this is a lot of goodwill for iburst esp. based on the recent torrid experiences we've had.

A quick experiment with my UTD - having my hand within a few 10s of cm amd the speeds dropped to .4 -.6 Mbs otherwise it is >0.9Mbs. [edit] no in fact if I leave the PC area it drops and if I approach again it raises, but not too close. LOL looks like I have to sit here all night long!

Working on fixing the daily email. At the moment: Allocated - (up+down) won't equal remaining. We'll add an additional value for the mahala bandwidth. Bubbles the monkey is hard at work with his abacus.

100KB/s from Rapidshare.

All aboard the gravy train!

O man isn't it good be on the gravy train? Were still not in the posh coaches like the uncapped dsl users but ill take it, thank you(jy kyk nie 'n gegewe perd in die bek nie). Now just to find that monkey to bring me a beer!

For once iBurst users are happy. The speeds are great and downloading without thinking about cap is a pleasure.

I really do hope iBurst keeps this service for free in the future. The whole 64kbps drama will soon be forgotten.

Like someone else mentioned here before. Having uncapped between 8pm & 8am would be perfect. (Remember iBurst, not everyone wants to download the interwebz)

This winter is gonna be a little better with iBurst.

Thanks guys!

Hehehe, I'm loving it.

Your data usage for this month
Description Data (MB)
Downloaded 1685.87 MB
Uploaded 124.58 MB
Total 1810.45 MB
Remaining 2562.50 MB
Purchased 0.0

Could play till I was tired and then downloaded the JC2 demo from gaming.do.co.za and could download my windows updates without worry. Speeds wasn't so bad either, about 80kb/s :)

It's like mcdonalds. :D

Can I have a summary of this thread please for future people reading? :)

Is this new service now up and running and more importantly is it working? :) I'd hate to have to download some stuff at night and find I'm capped on the 3rd of the month :p

Thanks in advance

Yes, it is working. But maybe start the downloading after 12 (say, 12:30) to make sure you dont waste any.

Well, after pulling 2x ISO totalling 1072MB, the delta between my 1st of the month capacity: 2884.58 MB and now, after said downloads at 2883.55 MB is a paltry ONE point zero three meg usage - what you get from random browsing, and certainly doesn't include that just-over-a-gig I pulled. So, that really seems to be a win! :D

Tested this out last night and worked great, expected the network to be falling over... well done iBurst! Any chance we'll be able to get feedback on how the network in the various areas are coping with this?

Is there any way to log/monitor download speed? Would like to see what speeds I'm getting throughout the morning, when I started the http download I was getting 80k...

This is working nicely for me!!!!!
I wanna cancel my 64kbps VAS... will buy more bandwidth when i am capped

Bubbles wants to know if that was the best you guys could do?

What are you implying? Are we not downloading enough?

So far the guys/gals on myBB are happy with this service, but lets wait until the rest of the 80000 iBurst subscribers find out about this.

Then we will see if iBurst can handle the load. In the meantime no complaints from us.

BTW: Any ideas on some good scheduled downloaders?

uTorrent is awesome for.. well... everything. The scheduler is very good. Click when you want it to start and stop.

Free download manager
also has an impressive manager for normal downloads, but no way to auto stop. Just choose a start time on every download (or set it as default)

For those of you who want youtube, check out "DownloadHelper" plugin for firefox. Combine with freedownload manager and you can queue those youtube video to download for offline watching when you are conscience.

Maybe if its less than what bubbles expected, you can ask him if he can flip the switch at 10:00pm instead ;)
