Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

Well... If it's not network outages, it's power. If it's not power it's undersea cables. Is it just me or is the interwebz in SA starting to disintegrate?

As to the whole RS debate, since nobody from Iburst has denied or responded to the question, I have to assume that there is some kind of RS blocking going on.

I never had any trouble downloading from RS but for the last week or so my RS links stops downloading every morning at about 2am or so.

My connection gets broken every morning between 6 & 8pm. Since I don't have scheduled downloads for RS I can't say what happens at 2am to 6am. My torrents and RS from 12-2 are about 500Kbs ( no more 1016Kbs sob) but lift a bit to about 700Kbs till 6am. Which is when I am awake to try RS, and get all broken downloads. Sadly even the 200MB file from this morning - it went to 134Mb and then broke my spirit.

I just think your links have timed out. Rapid share do chance the link address every now and again. I mean i download every night from RS/MU/MF ect. with no problems at all.

But downloading all those files at 125kb/s sure do take long!!!!

my RS downloads never stopped before, but in the last week, iBurst disconnects shortly after midnight and then reconnects at 1am'ish. Then when my downloads resume they start failing from about 2am. What gives?

I did some basic tests with RS this morning and could not connect to most of the RS hosting servers. This is only happening during "happy hours". I tried those some servers during "office hours" and tok...

So bubbles is definately up to something in the early hours...

There is no disconnects on iBurst unless it is a link failure.

Yes, the link goes down everytime at that approximate time, just when there was supposed to be the free bandwith ...... suspicious ... nah couldn't be. Because funnily enough during normal hours, downloads fly at approximately 125KB/sec.
Are we going to get any answers from iBurst regarding this issue via this forum, cos it's useless asking any of the call center agents.

Mine is flying at supersonic speed of an dial-up connection, so not much use of normal hours here.

Well i for one can vouch for Rapid share links not working. What bull crap is this. Seriously, whats the use of it being free to us we have "no limits" to let it block the links... with most just going to .php files. Get it right Iburst. If you cant supply the service . Then dont advertise it!

its suspicious that it wont download in "free time" but, works fine when downloading during the day. when the most traffic is exchanged.

Well my rapidshare and rapidshare links are working fine at the moment :)

It could be their upstream Vodacom causing issues, I get same issues on my Vodacom 3G.

As long as this is a free service, Iburst can "get away" with this - in the sense that if we aren't paying for it so if its not perfect, too bad - but what they need to decide on (and make clear) is what the parameters will be post-trial. Come 1 July when the trial is over, IF they want us to pay for a service that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, or works only for certain types of traffic and not others, then MAJOR FAIL.
For a free service I will live with some inconvenience, for a paid one NO WAY.
In the meantime I wish they would iron out the problems (if that IS what's going on here) or just be straight with us as to what's going on (if they are interfering).
My 2 cents worth.

obviously they will denie it. But we have to keep in mind that this is a trail. So i guess we will run into a couple of dead ends along the way

rooi, it's pretty much any file one chooses to download from RS. After midnight the link goes down, i then have to switch the modem off and on to re-establish connection, it will not reconnect on it's own. Once i do that, the same files that didn't work start downloading immediately. I will post a url of a series partial file later when i get home.
Also i guess u guys are right it is a trial period and hopefully these are just little niggles. But it's odd, during april i downloaded about 50gigs worth with none of these problems. This just started in may.

I also experience frequent disconnects during the 0000 - 0800 period, starting from around 0020 or so. The modem reconnects, & my torrent downloads resume just fine, but http? I've given up on those, as I have on trying to update my BFBC2. As has been said, it's a trial, and you can expect some teething problems while they test the service, but the disconnect issue is not a new one, it's been going on since the very start of the service. And it only happens during the free period. I have more DC's between midnight and eight in one night than I do during the rest of the day for anything up to two weeks.

If it's Iburst blocking rs then as much as I enjoy the uncapped I won't really have any use for it anymore. Was fun while it lasted though :) Hopefully this is not the case.

Downloads started working again at 4am but then stoped for a while and now seems to be going again...

I had exactly the same problem from about the 6th. But last night it seems to have run semi-ok again.

Although some files it shows as "offline", re-add a couple of times and then it will show "online"

Yeah same here. Had no problems with any of my rs links last night :) They were running smoothly from 12am up until 7am.
