Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

bad night last night, only managed about 800MB. Iburst - do we know if we will have this service after the trial? And if so what is going to be done about the rampant disconnects/link failures, that nobody has addressed as yet, bar blaming the files that we are downloading.

Only seems to be "rampant" in Sunninghill.

Well they said it will be implemented eventually... Just don't know when... As for the dead links.... Ive notice some links go dead and some not... Especially those sharing site links but if its one massive file it actually downloads all the way through. So i think its all up to the server we are downloading from updating their links

I've noticed the same thing. Next evening I load the same files for download and they go through, so it's a chance you take.

Since it's free, you can't complain too much, all it takes is time and patience and not data...

iBurst have now shaped us into oblivion. If you're going to offer a free service, make it work, make it viable, make it acceptable. Dont offer something that doesnt work. It basically false advertising.

Talk about unethical. This company should be taken to the cleaners for this fraud.

Sick of it.

i think his downloader aka mozilla downloader did what mine did too at first stop the downloads half way through. Take my advice get a downloading manager, sorts out the problem one time. I remember buying R400's cap that time when it was till R200 a gig to finish certain downloads. drove me crazy

OH! And here is a tip i find that works for me with these media sharing sites. Refresh every link just before bed or at the latest 10 pm. Then the chances are great that the links wont die in the process. Ive been doing this recently, and wake up to find all my downloads are finished then the following morning. Hope that helps

I've given my phone number of too someone, who advised someone else to call me about someone else who can fix my issue. I know what the issue is. Its the network, but no one believes me. They came here. Said my antenna was messed up, inspite of it being less than 2 years old, and said i hate to play R600 for a new one. So i got them to install it and my packet loss is the same. My jitter is ridiculous, and my speeds are 300k and that's even at night.

I'm in Cape Town, Southern Suburbs. I've been using tons of different platforms. JDownloader, uTorrent, Internet Download Manager, DAP, You name it, I've tried it. I don't get over 20k on any of them.

And thats after being forced to pay an extortionate amount of money that did absolutely nothing.

BTW, don't know if this has been posted yet, but this is what is on the iburst website... :)

Thank you!
If you are currently on a Wireless 2 or above package you will get the Uncapped Anytime service free of charge for 3 months (until the end of February 2010).

Uncapped Anytime is the old 64kbps throttled service.
This service currently being trialled is unmetered after-hours at full speed.

I don't believe we are getting throttled. I get much better speed at night, and have consistently downloaded 2 - 2.4GB within the 12pm-8am free slot.
Maybe I am just lucky to be on a tower which is not as busy as the tower you guy's are connected to. At night I usually get 100 - 120 KB/s.

I had one bad night this month, and then I even managed to download just over 1GB.
I use Ubuntu Linux, and a external antennae. I used one of the apps written by you guy's to tweak my antenna direction. I am about 3.5km's from the Tableview/Blouberg tower.
I have tried various torrent clients, and I have stuck with Vuze / Azureus.

I seem to be one of the few Iburst users that is very happy with Iburst. I try stay away from calling them for anything, because I cannot take the frustration.

Just my 2 cents ..... Use it .... Don't use it.

I dont think its throttling either, maybe its a contention problem? Too many people torrenting on heavily congested towers? Torrents are especially brutal on wireless networks like iBurst.

Why do you guys use torrents anyways? its crap, ads spayware and tottaly packsup your pc... EVENTUALLY!

Torrents only add spyware on crap operating systems like Windows. Try Linux, no blue screens, easy on your CPU, no spyware, no viruses ....
Remember those days ??
