Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

Well im not gonna lie i was a iburst hater but then i gave them a chance ... and im impressed, awesome speeds .... and i live in an average area according to their coverage map... just 1 or two probs latency not great but it'll do ;) and the Data usage bar hardly ever works ;)

looking forward to there next move :0

+ 1 for iBurst ... well in my books at least :)

:erm: yeah ... so much to still download.. hehe

Do we have any idea what is awaiting us next month ? :wtf:

The way Bubbles configured After Hour for the 1/July/10:

Package Data Burn Rate (after hour) Max Usage GB (after hour)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
W1 20% 1.25
W2 50% 4
W5 60% 12.5
W8 80% 40
W15 90% 150

If you hear no confirmation from r00ig then Bubbles will turn on the switch tomorrow night.

Edit: if you subscribe to Uncapped Anytime 64 or 128 then no count to your bundle after hour.

In the example above, do Wireless 1 subscribers get their normal 1GB during the day and 1.25GB after hours?

a little confusing because the % rates (in my mind) are reversed. the w15 should be 10% (only 10% of usage after hours counts to cap)

Example. Download 1GB during normal hours - left with 14GB
Then you download 10GB (for example) over night - the result is that you only lose 10% of that (ie. 1GB), result - left with 13GB.
The "max usage" amount is the amount of bandwidth you can get if you didnt download during the day at all - everything was done between 12:00 and 08:00.

Another angle on the maths:
Between 00:00 and 08:00
1GB account: you only use 1/1.25 (80%) of the amount
2GB account: you only use 1/2 (50%) of the amount
5GB account: you only use 1/2.5 (40%) of the amount
8GB account: you only use 1/5th (20%) of the amount
15G account : You only use 1/10th (10%) of the amount

So... now the next question, who's canceling iburst to go to Telkom now, seeing that the promotion is over?

OK, now i'm confused. I'm on the 15GB package. So does this mean that i get a max of 150GB p/m between 00:00 and 08:00, or do i have no limit?
Or the other thing is does that eat up a percentage of my 15GB? If so what percentage?

Oh, i managed 97GB this month.

Hmm, just called iBurst, and the voice on the phone knows nothing of whats being implemented as "Head office" hasn't passed any info down to the peons.

I think eltherza works for SARS.

Can we have an explanation suitable for the rest of us monkeys please?

LOL, no :p

Another explanation:
I think we need to separate the problem into 2 kinds of bandwidth usage.

There is what you use.
And there is what is taken off your allocated monthly cap. Reflected on the usage site/emails

Durning normal hours (8am->11:59pm) what you use is what is taken off your monthly amount. Use 1MB and 1MB will be taken off your monthly limit. Regardless of which package you are on. (Exactly how it works now)

After hours (00:00 -> 07:59am) what you use is not the same as what you have taken off the monthly cap usage.

If you are downloading and it's 'after hours':

Wireless 1 (1GB)
If you download 10MB you will only have 8MB taken off your monthly limit.

Wireless2 (2GB)
If you download 10MB you only will have 5MB taken off your monthly limit

Wireless5 (5GB)
If you download 10MB you only will have 4MB taken off your monthly limit

Wireless8 (8GB)
If you download 10MB you only will have 2MB taken off your monthly limit

Wireless15 (15GB)
If you download 10MB you only will have 1MB taken off your monthly limit

If you choose the uncapped anytime option (128 or 64):
For all packages:
You will always go at full speed (even if you are throttled) and nothing will come off your monthly limit during 'after hours'.

If anyone wants more examples for their own package, feel free to PM me your package and I'll try help you out.

All greek, even my university degree pulls up his shoulders and shrugs...

Maybe the question needs to be rephrased:
Let's say I press download, will it work?

I was under the impression that if you were on the Wireless 15 package or had the 64kbps / 128kbps VAS you will still get the unlimited after hours for free. Wireless 1, 2, 5 and 8 will only use a certain % of there cap after hours. Am I wrong?

I think eltherza is right about the % usage on each package, I'm just not 100% sure what you get with wireless 15.

I will rather wait for the Iburst rep to confirm this before I start my "big" downloads ;)

+1

I presume tonight's downloads will be accounted for in the new system, so an answer before midnight will be great.

The above burn rate and the example by eltherza is confirmed for tonight.
