Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

In the example above, if you subsrcibe to Wireless 1 then:
1. If you surf only during the day and use 1 GB you will be capped after 1GB which you downloaded.
2. If you surf only between midnight and morning (24:00 and 08:00) then your "Burn rate" is 0.8 which means if you down load 1GB, you'll be counted for 0.8Gb and left in the morning with 0.2Gb Free mb (in bundle).
3. Mix of the above - You use 500mb during the day then 500mb will be deducted from your bundle. During the night you perform the same download, i.e. 500mb then 500mb*0.8 = 400mb will be counted and you will be left with 100mb in the morning after.

Hope the example is clear

does nobody at Iburst think that things are getting a little bit too complicated? What rabbit in which hole comes up with the bright idea of using different %'s across different packages to define what people get to download between midnight and 8am.

In the example above, do Wireless 1 subscribers get their normal 1GB during the day and 1.25GB after hours?

So, you're saying 1GB during day then an extra 1.25GB at night for a total of 2.25GB in a month - No, that is not how it works.

Are you on a 1GB package?

It's not that complicated. Medical aid schemes, now those are complicated!
If you feel that this is far to complex to understand here are some simple rules:

Wanting a simple uncapped after hours option - get the VAS. This allows you to always (even when throttled) be uncapped in the after hours times.

Want to try and abuse the system and get as much as you can out for as little Rs as possible? Get the Wireless 1 option with the 64K VAS. Leave downloads on ALL the time. Get a 2nd modem and you're looking at over 150GB (although torrents/p2p aren't that good, normal downloads and steam will get you this amount).

Casual user who just wants to stretch it a bit more. Try getting everything done in the morning before 8am. Browse youtube, download those facebook pictures. Remember, it's not abusable so do what you normally do and you'll have a nice surprise of extra bandwidth at the end.

It's your own responsibility to understand what extra benefits you get. Remember, you arent paying for the after hours extra, so you don't really need to understand it and you can go on as you normally would.

Midnight 2 Morning free trial resultsPrint
We would like to thank all the iBurst Wireless subscribers who made use of
our three month Midnight to Morning market trial to test uptake and
viability.

We have given away nearly 30,000GB of data to more than 70,000
subscribers since April, where all iBurst Wireless customers received free
internet access from 12pm-8am every day. We hope you enjoyed all the extra
bandwidth!

Due to high demand and the positive response from our customers, we have
decided to create a Midnight to Morning product that can become a permanent
value-add for the benefit of our customers that want cheaper after-hours
access, or specifically need an uncapped service. From this month, available
from packages of 1GB and upwards, iBurst subscribers will now get between 20% and 90% of the data they use between 12pm and 8am absolutely free of charge (the free amount depending on what package you are on).

There are no extra fees, no setup is required, and there is no need to
subscribe – the new discounted after-hours bandwidth will automatically be
added to your package.

In addition, there is good news for iBurst Wireless subscribers on the
Uncapped Anytime value added service. Uncapped Anytime is an extra service on iBurst wireless packages which allows for uncapped Internet access once your monthly bandwidth is depleted by letting you continue to surf at slightly
slower speeds.

We’ve improved the Uncapped Anytime service so that when users reach their cap, they can surf at the throttled speed during normal hours,
but get full speed access at the normal line rate between midnight and 8am,
even if you are out of bundle, giving Uncapped Anytime users not only a
cost-effective uncapped access method, but if they are online after hours,
it’s a full-speed uncapped connection.

Free data after hours
If you use the Internet from 12am to 8am, up to 90% of your data is free.

The amount of data that you get free is dependent on your package (see table below). Midnight to Morning is available on iBurst Wireless packages (excluding Wireless Start).

For example: If you are on a Wireless 5 package and download 1Gb after hours, 600Mb will be free and only 400Mb will count towards your data limit.

Package Discount Free data per 1Gb Max free data
Wireless 1 20% 200Mb 1.25Gb
Wireless 2 50% 500Mb 4Gb
Wireless 5 60% 600Mb 12.5Gb
Wireless 8 80% 800Mb 40Gb
Wireless 18 90% 900Mb 150Gb

Internet without limits
You can sign up for Uncapped Antime and get unlimited Internet access after hours. Click here for details of our uncapped service.

Please note:
Midnight 2 Morning is not available on iBurst iDSL, iBurst WiMAX and iBurst Wireless Start.
This service is only active while you are on within your data limit. If you reach your limit and buy additional data, your Midnight 2 Morning benefit will apply to this data.

That's what I was asking, yes.

I understood from r00igev@@r's earlier post (I realize at the time the percentages weren't finalized) that there would be free after-hours bandwidth allocated in proportion to size of the package.
We also realized some people don't want to buy the VAS so we have made free bandwidth available as a standard feature. If you only use Midnight to morning you can:
- on a Wireless 2 download an extra 2GB for free
- on a Wireless 5 download an extra 20GB for free
- on a Wireless 8 download an extra 56GB for free
- on a Wireless 15 you can go ape...

Now it seems there is no free after-hours bandwidth, only an after-hours discount proportional to the size of the package.

i'm signing up for ADSL.... I already cough up almost R1000 for 5gig iburst, 64k throttled and now this.... for 5gig + 12.5gig = less than 20gig and its costing almost R1000 ????!!! No thanks, no more iBurst.

^How much is the 5 gig package? Im pretty sure that you cant be paying R1000+ a month for the 5gig package and the 64k vas...

the Uncapped Anytime (64k vas) is R174 as per my latest bill. R174 for dialup!!! i'm bleak

Dialup that can go 1mbps between midnight and 8am... oh, and it's always on... leave your dialup connection always on and you'll owe telkom your house.

How much did we use?

Just for curiosity sake, anyone at iBurst willing to share with us how much free bandwidth was used in total during the trial period of the after hours?

Now that it is finished, there is a 2gig update for team fortress. :(

You still get a discount. If you are on Wireless 2 (50% Discount) only 1GB will be taken from your total remaining data.

Not free, but better than nothing.

this midnight to morning offer is really sh*t.

i wonder if the new person in charge came up with this?

why make the offer sound so complicated? if u wanted to offer a good service to your customers offer them something that is worth while, not a half baked service!

If i download 500mb from midnight to about 7 in the morning, do i get that 500mb free or does that come out of my 2 gig package of the month because i did not download a whole 1 gig?
