Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

If i download 500mb from midnight to about 7 in the morning, do i get that 500mb free or does that come out of my 2 gig package of the month because i did not download a whole 1 gig?

If you are on Wireless 2 and download 500MB from 00h00 to 08h00, 250MB will come off from your remaining data.

I am on Wireless 8 and downloaded 360MB yesterday before 8am, and 407Mb Monday am before 8am, and coming into Sunday with 137MB after hours usage. This morning my after hours usage still sits at 137MB. And my bundle is getting depleted. Already 2GB has been depleted. My math will be a problem with the new system, but with maybe 500Mb normal usage, 1.5GB after hours - that should be 300MB coming of my bundle, right? Okay, 1.3GB normal usage, 700MB after hours ... oh, it still does not add up.

Are the daily reports you guys getting correct, or is this just another WIP with iburst?

I've noticed that the "out of bundle" amount is stuck on 40MB for me. Not 100% sure if the discount thing is working, I've been going easy on my normal daily usage in expectation of the Engy update in TF2. But I think it's time to actually test this.

Today i got the VAS uncapped anytime 64kb/128kb package email, where the 128kb/s package is some where in the R245 pm range... Now lets say im on a wireless 8 month to month package (+/-R600), does that R256 or whatever get added to my account making it +/-R900. Or does it stay exactly the same... Can anybody shed some light on the subject???

It gets added to your current Wireless 8 so you pay +-R900. You might want to drop to a Wireless 5 or lower and try to schedule downloads during after hours. From what I understand with the VAS, after hours bandwidth does not count towards your cap...

Thats stupid why call it "uncapped anytime" when its still after hours? Iburst and its misleading advertisement

The best deal is to add the VAS to a wireless 1 package.

You surf the web at 128kbps during the day and download full speed between 00h00 and 08h00.

If you add it to a wireless 8 package, it's not worth it. You have to blow your 8GB before the 128kbps VAS kicks in, besides at midnight.

Once you're reached the cap during the day there is no limit but you are throttled. After hours the throttle goes away. I don't see anything misleading in this?

Total In-Bundle Data Usage 2,720.72 MB
Data used After Hours
Total After Hour Usage 137.84 MB -> stuck on for 5 days now.

Mine is still on 40MB...

I'm updating tf2 now, I'll record how much I downloaded in the morning and then record the amount I use in the day and we can see.

It is misleading, being throttled (3-10kb/s) was crap had it when i was younger. so basically you must try not to surf or do anything at all during the day.. impossible if your at a business environment.

AND BY "ANYTIME UNCAPPED" in my dictionary means... hey looks its 12 PM in the afternoon let me stream some crap, with out worrying that im using unnecessary cap for my own entertainment!I dont see your logic.. Rather name it something like "Iburst midnight plus" . Make it seem more believable then a "UNCAPPED ANYTIME" thats like saying R2 OFF ON PETROL ANYTIME.. Catch my drift

But you are uncapped always on that package. They will not cut you off for using it. That is uncapped.

That makes no sense at all. R2 off petrol is closer to buying additional bandwidth. Something like "I buy a Ferrari and I can only go 60KM/H" is a better example... but strangely enough people are more accepting of that "throttle"...

Usage report !!

Morning. My Total After Hours Usage has not changed since the 2nd July. ( 605.71 MB )
I have done all my "big" downloads between midnight and 8am, yet I do not seem to be getting the 60% saving on my 5GB package. Everything is coming straight off my normal bandwidth allocation.
Is this 60% on a 5GB package automatically granted to you, or do I need to be applying for this somewhere ?

Thanks
WaZ

Same here. What is the story iBurst?

My logic makes perfect sense. when throttled you cant even do online gaming. When your throttled you download your emails in like 5 minutes instead of 20 seconds. When downloading a random 70mb when throttled takes the whole damn day too! And We all know petrol will never be free, so I made it believable to R2 off ! lol

I also seem to have the same problem. I was hoping that it would fix itself, but it hasn't.

Only to you. I don't see how a discount of R2 off petrol compares to an uncapped internet service. Better example would be "the petrol is free but you can only drive at 20Km/h". Regardless, it's still uncapped.

So, what is really happening with this midnight-8am bandwidth discounting? Of my 4GB usage this month, barely 1GB should have been used up.

Is it a programming thing, a SEACOM thing, Jannie's-took-all-the-passwords-and-staff? Have the accountants halted it in horror because the bandwidth-booster sales have plummeted?

Or are they still looking for that darn monkey?

Good question.

I downloaded some updates shortly after midnight this morning. This morning after 8am my usage stats on the website showed the following changes:

Downloaded +396.81
Uploaded +12.66
Total +409.47
Remaining -409.47
After hours usage +409.59

I'm on a Wireless 5 package, I'm not entirely clear on what my burn-rate should be, but I know it shouldn't be 99.97%.
Or are they still looking for that darn monkey?
Rumours are they've employed an octopus to activate all the different burn-rates for the different packages at midnight. He obviously hasn't got the hang of all the knobs yet.

Bring back Bubbles!

Yes to them all. Jannie is the monkey in disguise, who wrote the program for this monitoring. He went on 'holiday' which was actually a secret mission to take down seacom.

As for the accountants? I don't think they halted in horror because I don't think tey ever got started at iburst.... ;)
