Yeah it seems that once again MTN is giving their South African clients a raw deal... while we are probably responsible for most of their vast profits :-( When I try to access 0.facebook.com from my MTN contract phone it also says "Sorry, 0.facebook.com is only supported by select mobile carriers and is not available from your mobile carrier.", so I did some research and found that no, it is not available in SA.
I also don't understand why we STILL have to pay such outrageously high data rates on our cell phones, considering that MWeb (who is part of the same company as MTN, right?) can provide relatively affordable uncapped ADSL access via Seacom and Broadband access is still improving with addition of new cable systems... can't they just at least drop the GPRS/3G rates to about a third of what it is now - and thereby hopefully start another revolution, this time in the mobile data arena? Come on guys, do you really need to push your profits to new record highs every year instead of giving some back to your clients for a change??? Oh and please don't insult us like Vodacom does to their clients by PRETENDING to give "free data" and "lower costs" - most people can see right through that scam! And another thing: STOP STEALING from your clients by making the data we already paid for in blood "expire" every other month!!!!
