Free Telkom ADSL speed upgrades planned: source

We will only know come June . :)

I know a lot of ISPs gong to screw us by releasing separate packages due to this lol. Only the clever ones will not do this :-)

NO! Definitely not a hoax story.

Just be patient :).

Telkom have not released any press statement, not even a hint...
We are halfway through May and we are to expect they will upgrade all 384 connections in June? Telkom would be shouting this from the rooftops by now surely?
It would keep a few customers from jumping ship to mobile broadband surely if it was true?
I seriously doubt they would do this unannounced?

Have you read all the posts in this thread? i.e. Telkom is in a closed period and may not make any announcements?

Have they ever had an open period? Just kidding. That does not however explain zero info. Look how fast telkom denied the single pricing story for all ADSL.
The only hope I have is that they have not denied this...
But it would be nice to get some sort of official/semi-official comment other than wait till June lol

Any hard news yet, we are two weeks away from June and not a peep?

Response != announcement. Wait until June for the announcement, you won't hear anything before then.

It will happen in June...Not on the same date though. That's all I can tell you at this point. So be patient :)
It _WILL_? And what makes you so certain? :-)

From what I've heard, it's going to be happening automatically on 1 June. But whether that's true or not, we'll have to wait and see... and knowing Telkom, it's probably not going to happen so automatically & seamlessly, especially not for all... lol (lots of 4Mbps guys STILL waiting for 10Mbps years after it was supposed to materialize)

You do know that what you're referencing there requires actual hardware changes? In order for you to be able to get 10Mbps you need to be on a fibre circuit (amongst other requirements).

As if upgrading every single 384k user (the bulk of users) to nearly 3 times their original bandwidth, isn't going to require hardware/physical upgrades as well? :-)

The point I was trying to make is that 10Mbps uses a newer technology. Upgrading users from 384 -> 1Mbps and 1Mbps -> 2 Mbps require only the click of a button

Does this mean our ISPS (MWEB) in my case will upgrade my line as well. Now I know MWEB have promised but surely other ISP's would be announcing changes...
