So I have the dreaded windows corrupt file message on a older windows pc and have no backup disk anyone know where one can download a free copy of widows. All my other systems are Macs sooooo am up the creek with no paddle and have no desire to pay for windows
 
I'm sitting here with 4x Win 10 Pro licenses. All legit.

Just sitting here.

Either develop the desire to pay, or install something else that doesn't require payment. Theft is not an option.

Another option is to download from the official Microsoft website as a previous user linked to. No payment required. When doing a fresh install on the same machine, MS will authenticate based on the previous legit install.

You're right. Legit Win 10 licenses are valid for the life of the machine.

I didn't get a strong sense the OP has a legit licence. If he did, he'd already have paid for one, either preinstalled on a new system, or upgraded as per previous Msft upgrade programs.
