Freshphone closing down

Has anybody done this yet to find out more about this express extension offer?
I've just moved across to Euphoria. All fine.

As far as I could see it's still the best price monthly, compared to others that might host your number.
Quite a process with different departments, tickets opening and closing, porting etc, but they were friendly and helpful. They're clearly set up more for big call centres, rather than me and my single SIP softphone.
All charges waived. (R1000s of fees...). R45/month but I think this is suspended for the first year.

Only gotcha seems to be that Euphoria doesn't support the codec that my nice softphone (Telephone on Mac) uses, even though it worked for Freshphone. Back to old Linphone until I find something new.

Registered for Linphone. WIll put on phone once back in Jozi. Do you get a phone number or is it purely a SIP service without a phone number?

Don't need that linphone account. Just the app. The account is free, but only allows calls to other linphone accounts.

So I just use the app with local sip account

Which codec is that?

anyone migrated to Afrihost? The port went through fairly quick and pain free. However I'm struggling to configure my Gigaset A510ip. I can receive calls but unable to dial out.

Yes, I've ported 2 geographic numbers from Freshphone to Afrihost in the past few months. Both went off without a hitch. Call quality is good and am able to make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls no problem.

mind if you dm me your settings screenshot, or i can send you mine? AH staff first said my IP might need to be whitelisted, then suggested a hard reset, but they dont have much experience on this.

I'm using my Afrihost SIP accounts as SIP trunks in my 3CX PABX system so the settings won't be useful for you. If it helps, I didn't have to do anything special, I simply added the SIP hostname, SIP username and SIP password and it worked straight out of the box.

I emailed [email protected]

In email I just said something like:

"Please could you send me a confirmation letter for me to port out my geographic landline number xxxx which I want to port out to Afrihost."

9 minutes later and I also have my letter in hand, knocking on the door of Abacus. Lets see what happens

I ported my landline number to Freshphone and it is hosted in another Fresh number, So I use both numbers and they both ring on the same softphone.
When I port to Abacus for R190 do they move both numbers?

Not sure about this but Abacus are very good in support. Just ask them.

Its per number. R180 each
Sounds expensive. With everyone leaving to Afrihost and abacus etc I’m not sure why no one just took the Euphoria offer, I think the base cost is like R45 and you don’t have to pay to move the numbers etc.

Once of cost vs monthly cost when moving to Abacus.

Abacus have a R0/month fee, you only pay for what you use. Post-paid however, so more like a pay as you go model.
