From ADSL2+ to ADSL_G.dmt

A quick update.

My ADSL line is back on 10mb/s ADSL2+ profile thanks to GhostR who has been patiently assisting me.

My router stats now:-

Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (Kbps) 1023 10239
Max Rate (Kbps) 1180 12820
SNR Margin (dB) 9.3 8.2
Line Attenuation (dB) 23 40.5
Errors (Pkts) 0 0

Thanks to all for lending an ear.

Thanks to the new Telkoms DSMS my modulation mode has been reset to ADSL_G.dmt and my line is synching at only 8mb/s.

Can anyone please assist in changing the modulation type back to ADSL2+ ?

Just had a response from TelkomZA suggesting that the reason I am unable to return my modulation type to ADSL2+ (10mb/s) is that my modem might not support the type.

I have tried my Netgear DGND2000v1, DGND3700v2, D6300 and latest TP-Link Archer D7 and these refuse to synchronise on modulation ADSL2+.

Please someone tell me that I am not losing my mind.

Perhaps I should just try the Telkom branded Netgear DGND2200????

Did you tell him that "might not support" is not the same as "does not support" ? Have they confirmed that your line is now on ADSL2+ modulation? Make sure you have Multimode enabled on your router, or if you want to try force ADSL2+ only, I would suggest giving that a try too. Might force it out of G.DMT? Unless you've already tried that ? Otherwise send TelkomZA a short PM stating what your line number is and what you need - they are far more effective at solving specific software technical issues with ADSL lines than the other general Telkom support are

Thanks for the response fragtion.

All my modems are set to auto-synch. If I dare change the modulation type to ADSL2+ the status remains 'Connecting..'

Up until Sunday 15th March 2015 my ADSL line statistics were:-

Line Status: Connected
Modulation Type: ADSL_2plus
Annex Type:Annex A
Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (Kbps) 1023 10239
Max Rate (Kbps) 1156 12420
SNR Margin (dB) 8.6 9.1
Line Attenuation (dB) 23 38
Errors (Pkts) 0 0

A quick update...

Kudos to th0rn for assisting with my issue. My ADSL is back to synchronising the same way it did for the past 4 years.

Well mine recently couldn't sync on G.DMT anymore. The Telkom techie did something and now I'm from G.DMT to ADSL_2plus. Just the other way around you guys are experiencing.

HUH???

Has that improved your line stats?

Well I don't really know, can't remember the stats. But my max download increased from 8mbps to 14mbps.

Don't know if this is good or bad... and yes I've been stuck on 4mbps for 9 years :(
