Frontosa resellers BEWARE!

I did my own research on this problem. What I cannot understand is why this customer owed this money for such a long time, and then expected his goods released when payment was still due.
In this one, I agree with Frontosa.

What annoys me most is that Frontosa even bothered to use HelloPeter to reply. HelloPeter is an UNOFFICIAL, UNRECOGNISED ORGANISATION except for the end user who have nothing better to do other than complain (there are a few exception, but I can say only a few) - - it is a shamefull SCAM. Frontosa should have left it alone becuase it is obvious that if payment is due, suppliers have every right, and WILL close the account.

We actually send out debt collectors, and they send a summons to appear before a court if payment is due for that long. Suppliers are sick and tired of having to chase money from people who believe they can get something for nothing.

This is Africa, but this is not Zimbabwe where certain individuals believe they are entitled to everything for nothing.

On the other side of the coin, this poor "reseller" has been quite annoyed for some or other reason. Surely the sales person should have informed him of his non-payment on Friday.

People use Hellopeter to get answers and service from suppliers etc. Company's that care about their image will respond to HelloPeter.

True but do this simple experiment:

Go to http://www.hellopeter.com/

Click on Companies who respond on the left side of window
View total number of positive responses = 11250 (at time of writing)
View total number of negative responses = 45292 (at time of writing)

Click on Companies who don't respond
View total number of positive responses = 2481 (at time of writing)
View total number of negative responses = 11995 (at time of writing)

All this tells me is that people like to complain, and are more willing to go out of their way to complain than to praise good service.

As far as this whole Frontosa debocle goes, I'm new to the systems building business, have so far built one system, and I dealt with FrontosaJHB among others for my first build.

I have no complaints, except that I couldn't get e-mails through to a sales person to get a quote for like a week, and ended up sending it to another individaul, name of Claude.

I would rate him as a highly helpfull and competent sales person, and even though I haven't bought much from them he was extremely helpfull, somehow I would've thought most companies favour big spenders.

I had no problems picking up my order, everything was there waiting for me, not even a scratch, no hardware problems to complain of (yet:D)

I'm sure I'll be doing business with them in the future.

And also GoodbyePeter.:p

Well, HP is a scam for different reasons to the ones you posted I think. Sure, some of it is customers just being plain bitchy but there is a lot of it which is suppliers sucking.

I think a site like HP can and does do good, however, it should be limited to companies that's not regulated by a formal body. (Unless one complains about the formal body...;) ).

Take banking - The Banking Ombudsman does a good job at mediating between banks and customers. It also forces these institutions to adopt a problem resolution policy. Sure some are better than others but as a customer you can escalate any banking related problem to the Ombudsman if you followed the steps. BIG plus is that the companies get fined if a complaint escalates to the ombudsman - irrespective of the outcome.

The ombudsman even publishes its findings and stats related to complaints it receives.

Thing is that not all companies have a legal obligation to conform to such a body. Any complaint that does not get the deserved attention or is not resolved in such a company often leaves the customer without an easy form of recourse. The easiest way then to get heard is to use a site like HP if the company actually cares about its brand.

I don't think South African complain enough about poor service or an inferior product. Or if we do companies make it so difficult that it becomes a waste of time to pursue the matter further. In this I think the problem lies. It's too easy for companies to use stalling activities and or red tape knowing that the customer eventually will give up.

Good customer service is not a typical South African value in a lot of companies.

Just a few thoughts..

Poor service? Sahara > *

Not that Frontosa is brilliant. As for Esquire, they are not much better. The best I find to be Axiz. Keep up the good work Axiz.

I have also had no problems with frontosa... whats with all these random cross forum posts about complaints?

my response from pcbg

I used to be/am a dealer and have accounts with Frontosa (cpt) frontosa JHB and rectron. In my personal / professional opinion i have had NO (read NO) issues with any frontosa branch.

They have provided me with excellent support IRL/in their offices and online. They have built machines for me after hours and have given me excellent support on broken items that are in warranty

Example.

2 weeks ago my PSU and my GPU died. nfc why, but they just did. they died 2 days appart.

PSU = Antec true Blue 480w
GPU = XFX 7600GS

Took them into the cpt office, showed the invoices (both were pretty old, PSU was 2weeks from being out of warranty, and GPU ...well xfx have 2xlifetime warranty's so im not 2 worried about that)

I arrived on the wednessday over lunch, took them both in. 1hr later, i had a brand spanking new PSU & GPU. I had to pay in R100 in total for the swap outs, but i got a 500watt Antec Earth power(something like that) psu which is amazing btw, and a 8600GS XFX because the 7600 was EOL.

Now thats what i call service. almost 3years after buying the psu and 1year after the GPU and i still got service with a smile, and new hardware.

Now maybe thats just me, but i think Mosi/Victor are doing excellent jobs. And i still prefer Frontosa to Rectron. period.

Seems that some people are expecting/asking for more because they think they are getting shafted. Im VERY happy with frontosa and Mosi/Eddie. They are legends.

Give me a break. All I'm saying is that so far I have had nothing but a helpfull and professional attitude from them. Sure, it could change, and I'll probably have my share of problems in the future, I'm sure.

This whole thing from Iamannoyed seems a little over the top to me. Like another user said in this thread "it takes two to tango".

As for HelloPeter, sure it's interesting and has it's uses, but I stand by my assertion that it's mainly an outlet for angry people to crap on companies, sometimes they need that for sure.:D

Let's crap on companies that really deserve it though.

Just looked at the thread over at system shock and I wouldn't risk business with them but I personally think those ex-clients should take them to small claims court, it just sounds very shady, that many people having trouble with them.

Hmmmm...wonder if they are going to pull in their "lawyers" in for that post! Anyone know what ever happened to IamAnnoyed?

Wow never throught this post would ever re-surface....

Not much happened in the end...finally managed to get the PSU back thanks to Rashied...

Basically this is what happened:
My SS Response

I promise you that you would have felt the exact same way after being ignored, even after warning them that if you continued to be ignored you would take it further. They deserved it!

The problem with small courts is that you need to take a company to court in a personal capacity. Small Claim Courts do not facilitate company to company disputes...

With all due respect, as we have known each other well for years...you do not purchase tons of stock daily anymore! Mosi always was a legend - and probably still is, we know cos we signed up when they first opened up in JHB, long before CPT was opened. Service was good...but the minute they got bigger (by which time you had already sold shop) they spiralled downwards! Seems to be getting worse though, as more people are coming out into the open!

The best I find to be Axiz. Keep up the good work Axiz.

Agreed 100%....along with Pinnacle and Rectron :)

WOW !!

"Good to know that I am not the only one that has gotten the F*** u attitude from Frontosa. I too have had problems with them regarding warranties, the first case was with a entry Level Asus P5B-WM board, the board was faulty so I brought it in to have it replaced. I was told that it needed to be tested and once they had the results of the test they would give me a call. I never received a call and ended up calling them numerous times before I eventually got their confirmation that the board was in fact faulty, something I had discovered 10 days prior. I was also told that they could not replace the board as it was EOL or discontinued and that they could only credit my account so I said fine go ahead, but no they had to wait for their supplier (Axiz) to credit their account before they could credit my account. Finally 2 weeks later they credited my account but not the price I paid (which was R1088 excl) but at what they call the going rate which was R668 excl , I was in a rush and didn't bother to make a big fuss so I took the credit and got a P5B-MX for R639 excl which is a piece of junk and nowhere near to being an equivalent but the client was waiting and I too was pissed off after 3 weeks.

About 2 months down the line the board I had in my pc, a Asus P5B deluxe also failed, so I brought it in, but this time I demanded that they test it right away to confirm that it was faulty which they did. They called me 2 days later to tell me that they will not be able to get the same board but will be able to credit me for the board, so this time I called the accounts department and told them to credit right away and not to waste my time so they credited my account the same day. I went there to see how much they had credited my account, it was R1139 even though I had paid R1524 for my board and at the time the equivalent board was around R1595, so I got screwed.

I spoke to Dominic that handles the stuff at the dispatch, he told me thats the going rate and thats how it works. I told him I wont accept it, so he told me to go speak to Mosi, Mosi told me that this is the way it is and there is nothing I can do. I tried being reasonable and everything else to get things my way, the way it should be, I've done this at Rectron on number of occasions and it has worked every time, but not here. They just couldn't care less what I had to say. I told him that every other supplier will credit for the exact amount I paid or give me a choice to swop for the equivalent and that this is completely ridiculous unacceptable. I demanded to speak to mr big himself, victor but no he was too busy to come and speak to me. I was seriously fed up and just ordered a new board P5E for R1853, naturally I would have taken the cash but obviously I couldn't get the credit as cash, If I could have I would have just gone to Axiz and bought the board there for R100 cheaper.

As soon as I got home I called Victor and explained the situation to him, he told me that the going rate is all they can give me, I asked him to explain to me how they calculate the going rate and how they get to these ridiculous values, he wasn't interested but he did tell me that he would investigate the matter right away and give me a call back, I've never heard from him since even though I called him 2 weeks later to ask him what was happening, he was simply disinterested. I do acknowledge the fact that I am not one of their biggest clients but I am definitely not one of their smallest either and regardless how much or how little I spend there I do have consumer rights and I do deserve to be treated fairly. Ever since this incident I try and purchase as much as I can from other suppliers and will go to extreme lengths to avoid buying anything at Frontosa, their business ethics and way of operation really makes me sick. I just saw they're listed on hellopeter, just I have a feeling that If I voice my opinion there those pigs may close my account."

Well i suppose that is what they wanted. They now have the fear instilled in some of their resellers that "we will close your account if you try and RMA valid products with valid faults".
Point is they are clearly screwing themselves by adopting this attitude.

Well all companies have there policies on how they do things, if Frontosa uses a "going rate" to refund EOL products that is their decision. As a customer its your choice weather you want to buy there or not.

You mention that rectron is much better but they not really much better, the do infact trade EOL motherboards for another motherboard but they its hardly equivalent to the price which you purchased your current motherboard (I have experienced this). Rectrons attitude to smaller customers isn't to great either. I had lots of issues with rectron and many suppliers sometimes its just unlucky that you got the new or the bad sales rep.

I have had issues with Frontosa regarding both billing and warrantee and on both types they handled and sorted it out very well. The Cape Towns branch manager seems be a nice guy and not the way you explained.... Frontosa will continue to be my supplier of choice even though I know alot of their products do infact from other suppliers.

OK. So where are those first-time-frontosa posters now?

LOL.

I find Rectron JHB to be fast and efficient. Never bought from Axiz yet.

Frontosa had a VERY small office in Kyalami (JHB) a while back, so I'm surprised about their inefficiencies.

Hmmm. Alot to ponder wrt suppliers/distributors.

I have a good relationship with the guys at Frontosa Midrand ... never had problems ... the worst thing I had was account was blocked due to limits, but the lady in accounts knows I pay, so she increased it temporarily on the spot.
Rectron has also given me excellant service.
At Axiz, I once returned an Asus board that I had used for a month, it worked fine but there was a funny sound coming off the board and there was a buzzing noise in the sound card. They took it in for a full credit without even testing it and just the board, not the box or accessories that came with it. Now thats good service.
