Hi all

My wife's Samsung J5 got wet and the screen is now frozen. The battery charges, it receives texts & calls, but the touchscreen is frozen, i.e, none of the touchscreen app buttons work, although they are visible. We tried the rice-bowl method, etc., but nothing worked.

As she now has a new phone, all I want to do is recover her photos for her.

I have been through countless forums (fora?) and Youtube videos, but none of them deal with this issue. I have also visited a few cellphone repair shops and no-one seems willing to even try. It seems that this is such a rare and obscure problem, that no-one is willing to try.

Any advice?

Don't see why repair shops can't help you.
As you say, the device still works, it's just the touch screen. Did they give you a quote to replace the screen?

You can try connecting the device to a PC and see if you can access the files, but it normally requests on the device itself to verify the connection and since the touch is not working, this will not be possible.

If that is not working you will have to cough up and have the screen replaced if the pictures are that important.
