Fscking HELL! I know where our bandwidth is going!

Of course, if Sentech is the victim of internal fraud or hacking I might have some sympathy for them. But not when they do not communicate honestly and openly, lie in public, deny there is a problem and blame the users.

Also, what would be legally defined as "acceptable usage"? That's pretty open, but in law in interpreting that, the judge goes by what would be acceptable to the common man ie what would the ordinary man-in-the-street find acceptable. It's not an arbitrary decision for the company to make. The company advertised always on, no caps and high speed. To my mind I should be able to download at 128k, 24/7. That's acceptable to me.

From their AUP:

"Such prohibited actions include, but are not limited to: using the Service to host a web server site which attracts excessive traffic at your location, continuously uploading or downloading streaming video or audio, UseNet hosting, or continuous FTP uploading or downloading"

I don't do ANY of that and I still manage to pull 10 gigs through my network in a month - and I DON'T download movies. I surf, play games and chat on yahoo - that's it!

Has your service improved? It certainly seems, though, that the pressure and various actions from this group seems to have finally set off the alarm bells.

If they call you again, can you ask them what their technical problems are and when they expect to get them fixed? I'm intrigued by the comment at the press conference that 6% of users are pulling down as much as 10 users each. How are they then planning on increasing the subscriber base without it getting even worse?

On Sentech.co.za's front page:

"Our wireless network provides unlimited internet access at one flat fee, across any network, any device, from anywhere"

First off: YEAH RIGHT!!!

Adjective: unlimited un'limitid
1. Having no limits in range or scope
2. Without reservation or exception
3. That cannot be entirely consumed or used up

Synonymns:
- inexhaustible
- limitless
- outright
- straight-out

Antonymns:
- limited

There's your freaking English lesson for today!

Can someone suggest what is going on? This is just a brief extract from my firewall log. It's been going on all day. At midnight (like yesterday), the destination IP address will change.

Whos fault is it that they let a let a limited amount of users "abuse" the bandwidth and let everyone else receive k@k service ???

Haven't these semi-inteligent so called network operator ever heard of BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT. To let some people hit 90Gb's while other users stuggle to hit 1Gb is just insane, coming out and admiting this has just made me realise how incredibly STUPID Sentech acctually are, here i was sitting thinking their might be a legitimat problem behind these speeds.

If there are people hacking the network as rumour would suggest, then they're probably the ones eating up the bandwidth. Can't blame customers for that.

oh yes michelle said new software being installed (she would not admit to the hackers, but it was obvious) at the moment and over the next couple of days, and within 2 weeks we would all see a difference.... i know its just another sentech promise, but hey if this hacker thing is true and sentech catch and destroy theses hackers, surely we will be styling?

Wonder whether they mean 90 Giga Bytes or 90 Giga bits? Certainly don'twonder whether they know the difference.

I've tried searching for South African MP3 sites with MyWi IP ranges - no luck. Anyone else tried?

you'll probably find it's some dumb mywi users running windows 2000 ftp server and it's being used for a "dump"

buffalobill, I Dont like the look of that. It may be someone is using sentech as a gateway to send all there spam. Think going Sentech is as good as running a cat 5 out of your window and leaving it lying behind a bush for any passer by to use. Nway allready ordered my Hellkom ADSL.

OH Rodent please open a new thread when you post your findings very curious indeed.
