FTTH Telkom Lines

Just had a good chat with the guys on support. Thanks for this help. Seems like it would be better to get the line from RSAAfrika likes then data packages from you guys. Im hoping that Telkom now kick in with speed to the installation at Aspen Hills.

I've never understood why anyone would want their data and line separate from different providers, but that's entirely up to you.

FYI, our costings on those will be coming down in the coming months as well...

From a price point of view. It's a near R1000 saving than taking the Line from Telkom and the Data from example you guys that's the only reason.

You can get the line from us as well. The line costs the same as what Telkom charge (for now), but the day that there is an issue will be the day that you understand why this price-benefit is largely eroded. Out of the two, the line is the likely one to pose an issue. When you talk to us, and we refer you to the line manager, and ISPAfrika refer it to Openserve, who refer it back to the ISP, it's now a problem. This is unfortunately commonplace in the ISP world...

Appreciate the insight to this DJ thanks. I have yet to have this experience first hand so the advise is well accepted. Thank you.

My first phase would be this meeting on Wednesday in the estate which I'm pretty excited for. I'm guessing the rollout process will be laid out to the estate members and with that we can have a better field of view as to what is to come.

Hi DJ

I am currently a CW ADSL customer and now have Telkom FTTH in my area. When I contacted your chat support they advised that I have to order the Fibre line from Telkom or another provider. Am I amble to order my Telkom fibre line from you. I would like to continue using CW as my ISP

Absolutely. Yes you can order it from us. I'll have a chat internally to find out why this incorrect information was relayed...

Thanks DJ. I have contacted your support and have been told your fibre manager will contact me.

Why hasn't your company updated the website with the option to order lines? Also what are the prices?

Was also part of my struggle having to speak to the support to identify package prices and options.

Yesterday I was told by a Telkom fibre sales rep that I can't use my Vox fatpipe account on a Telkom fibre line. Is this true? I have not been able to test it yet because I don't have the fibre yet.

I'd be super sad because the account has over 1TB accumulated on it.

False.

It will work, as I'm using my Vox fatpipe account on my Telkom fibre line, just ignore what the sales rep said.

:)

Thanks SC. I'm totally going for the 200GB + 100mbps account! I canceled my Web Africa order because it's been almost 2 months and they haven't called me. Telkom are literally installing at all the houses in my road and WA can't get an order number. RIP customer service.

If the 200GB account gets reaches it's cap then the line speed slows down on that account. But I'll still be able to get full speed on the Vox account. Both accounts have a midnight surfer feature!

Yeah man, I also went with Telkom. A bit more expensive, but they're on the ball and installed immediately after I placed my order.

If I may ask at what point of the whole install did you know when to call and order ?

Well, they actually phoned me after the fibre installation was finished by the contractors. A Telkom rep phoned me the last week of December 2015 and they came to install the second week of January 2016. It would have been the first week already, but I was away on leave and had to reschedule with them for my install.

Telkom will contact you, and at that point you know. You will likely receive a list of prices in the post from Telkom and the name of a rep to contact. These are not your standard Telkom call center personnel though. They're actually really professional.
