Ja, it has always been a problem, that over the years has got worse, not better. And that is because it would seem fewer and fewer companies and organisations stick to the approved plans and wayleaves.

And there is no action taken against anyone! In my day, every incident would lead to an investigation and action to fix and hold people personally responsible, if negligence was found.

@Geoff.D We have had 2 homes water pipes damaged and today the entire street was without electricity for an hour when the driveway mole impacting damaged a cable so your predictions were spot on.

Sorry to hear that. Any of the crew on site making use of metal detectors to check the areas where they are going to dig? At the shallow levels that pipes and cables are, a metal detector works wonders.

The old school does not reflect anymore, I haven't seen any metal detectors. The crew is actually quite good barring the mishaps and I seem to have a happy neat bunch on my street.

Vumatel used metal detectors in my area 1 week before digging started, only had the power go off for 1 hour so far. Recently it has been raining like hell in CPT so progress will continue when the weather permits.

The SADV boundary wall box now makes an appearance. There is still no sign of this build as " in progress " on SADV or Vuma Villages coverage maps so it's still an incognito build at the moment.

Time line 2 weeks 2 days after trenching.
Trenching and laying of microducts still continues in the fibrehood.
Actual floating of fibre still to take place at a still unknown date.
Projected "live" date 27 November 2020

Below is the grey cable previously pictured although it is not any cable but also a microduct which is also quite thick and seems solid. This is inside the conduit going into the (edited from BBW ) BWB so I think there is quite a bit of protection for the fibre core when it is eventually installed.

I would, if that box was on my pavement, protect those ducts from damage from the actions of my gardener and weed eater as an added precaution.

@Geoff.D meant BWB ( Boundary Wall Box ). See further pictures below. As you can see it is also a lockable box as @VettieOriginal mentioned before.

Okay, so it is already pretty much protected, cast in a concrete plinth which means the weeds and grass are not going to grow against/up the ducts. Neat!

Why do they need more than a year to complete the network ?
They indicated that they want to finish trenching and cabling by the end of September.

Do you know what ISPs we probably going to have?
I saw RSAWEB and afrihost have dealt with SADV previously.
Just wanted to know to get a rough idea on pricing.

I thought there's was a limited selection of ISPs because it was SADV infrastructure and not all ISPs deal with SADV

There's between 66 and 68 ISP's on the network. If that's limited, then **** me.

So it appears I had the "A" trenching team. They have now filled up and compacted the trench, removed all rubble and reinstated. They were really friendly, neat and efficient. There are multiple teams on the job and I guess it's just the luck of the draw who you get. The rest of the street is still a bit of a mess. LOL
