Fuel consumption

Currently getting 4.8 / 100km after my latest service. The mechanic replaced a high pressure hose that someone in the past "fixed" using some insulation tape. This improved my fuel consumption slightly.

2011 Nissan Micra 1.5 dci with 245k on the clock, around 70% highway driving.

Sounds like the pipe from the EGR cooler. They are known to split from the high temperatures at the back of the engine

It was about 15-20cm long, and clearly meant to handle high pressure. But now it's fixed and everything is running smoothly.

EGR are useless, just do a dpf and egr delete! Nothing like the noise of a cold start straight pipe diesel in morning!

I am getting 5.5 per 100km. Non modded! V6 Q7

Trust me, short drives its expensive, for the long road (the perfect dream)

5.5l/100km in a Q7 with the 3.0 V6 TDi? I have never heard of anyone getting that sort of fuel consumption out of that engine even in lighter cars using that engine.

I'm using a mates Pajero 3800 for a few weeks as I've hurt my leg and can't drive a manual.

On a good day it gets 5km/L (20L/100km).

Thats heavier than my 4ton Isuzu Truck!!!!

Those Mitsu V6's are thirsty beasts.

But reliable as can come, if it's any consolation

My 2015 Ford Fiesta 999cc ecoboost w/95 RON.

Had to go from JHB south to PTA last week, got 4.8L/100km @120KM/h

Currently on 5.8L/100km urban driving, did not reset it since the PTA trip.

I normally get ~600km on a tank, sometimes 630KM.
Hey there I have 2 brand new air filters from Ford that not used to be part of my service (Sealed in its plastic) . I used a K and N when I had my Fiesta Ecoboost, if you around the West Rand you can have both for free

Thats the power of diesel I assume! Look, drive the Q7 short distances, its expensive. I only use her for long drives.

Same engine on my Audi A6 3.0TDi ( 2380KG) , I get slightly more as the car is lighter, These engine barely tick over at 120KMH they are at 1500rpm on final drive, city driving 1000rpm is around 80kmh in final drive/ 1200RPM in D6 if traffic is slower - I noticed that these engine run through the gears very quickly to get to final drive. On a Major intersection when you take off in D1 before you reach the other end you already in D4
Even when driven hard I hardly see the Tach go over 2000rpm - when I fill my tank the range indicates 1310km - my current tank is sitting on a range of 340km and I have already done 830km - mixed driving I do hammer it sometimes but I also make sure all services and maintenance are kept up to date. My Average to DBN from JHB is 4.6L/100KM - again ticking over at1500/1600rpm
I think its the torque of these big engines that get the car up and running and thats why when I drove smaller capacity cars I was not getting these fuel numbers - you had to work them to get them to get to the desired speed.

Over their life times of the three vehicles I owned I the following,
Isuzu KB300 Double Cab, 10.2L/100km
Ford Fiesta 1.6L, 7.85L/100km
BMW F800GS, 4.56L/100km

ATM I am getting 6.5km/l. Not too bad.
Short trips in town mostly.

Is that the GVM for your A6? The GVM for my Touareg is 2840kg which explains the thirst for diesel compared to yours, I average around 750km's a tank in town.

Thats the weight as per the licence disk :)
