Wonder if any of these residents use cellphones...? Wonder if it dawned on them that masts are needed for them to use their cellphones. The same applies all these cellphone mast whingers...

I think most of the damage will come from people that believe the towers are harming them. And I think that's sufficient enough reason to remove it from their area. (Cause they are koekoes)

There is not enough evidence to support either sides. The world health organization does not have any form of 'proof' to back them up that you are 100% safe from any form of side effects.

Ofcourse, I think allot of people have fears about the effect of technology like this on us. And we will always look for the dangers. As long as we atleast keep looking. Sometimes we need people like this to protest. Maybe they fund some amazing scientific project that settles it for once.

Very easy to talk; but how many of you would like 1 of these masts next to your home? "eye-sore factor" aside they could have a point. I certainly wouldn't want to be the "guinea pig" that either proves this wrong or right...

Example in point re "gaps in knowledge are sufficient to justify a precautionary approach": Consider that for many years people refused to believe that badly maintained overhead powerlines could leak electricity into the ground (Stray Voltage). Various cases of dead animals, electrical experiences in the bath, ... I remember that they too were laughed at until evidence amounted to indicated this was true.

Do you really think cellular companies or companies in general have the consumer's best interest in mind when they go about their business?

Consider as another example the American gov will still not commit to Kyoto protocol; not because it benefits the consumer but rather the companies that fund their coffers.

Gotta love these old biddies complaining about the mast. But truth be told I wouldn't put one up in my backyard. I would've also complained.

Had to laugh when I read:

I think that the effects of the wireless age won't be noticeable for some while yet. We will probably go on using cell phones and other wireless tech for many years to come.
The effect will probably only be noticed say after about 50-100 years of use and by that time most of the people of technologically advanced countries would have been affected in some way.
By then it could be to late to reverse the cumulating effects it has had over the past 50-100 years...who knows.

Won't it be ironic, we worry so much about war/crime/global warming but in the end millions of humans die because of low level radiation poisoning caused by human greed/ingorance and need for technological advancement.

Yeah. It was only 50 years ago that radioactive products were banned, up until then companies were selling radioactive water and other products stating that it "contained the greatest healing power known to man"! When people started to complain about bad side effects the companies made them out to be crazy liars.

I dont trust the human race, we think we are right until we are proven wrong. I normally end a cell phone call when I feel my ear starting to get hot from the inside, I just dont think it could be doing me any good.

Yeah well Ive been whittering on about this happening full-on down our way for ages and look at the response ive been getting haha.....
We're in full view of a cellmast AND the test zone for the Muni Wireless linkup ..add those two together and I'm not kidding... i give it five years tops and there WILL be residents growing three heads...

But hey guys - it WILL be in your area soon and interesting to see how opinions change when its your family at risk....

Coinciding with a number of other similar battles around the country, in August last year, residents of Mill Park and Linkside mounted a campaign against MTN's proposal to erect a base station on Wares Road on a patch of municipal property close to residential homes.

Not sure about the other cases but this is just down the road from me and it seemed people were more concerned about the property value/eyesore factor than anything health-related.
