After being a TOPTV subscriber for 4 months, i have now jumped over to DSTV again. The content was initially old and i accepted it,started following old series but just recently they decide to repeat most of their content again. Why should i pay for something that i watched especially old content.

I have chosen to go over to DSTV compact for the latest content. It has half the channels on TOPTV but the content is far more premium.Channels like National Geographic,Animal Planet,Series,Idols have latest content.

The consultant has advised us that only March next year will TOPTV up their game.I will only go back if i am impressed.Until then ,Multichoice it is!!

I got lucky actually. I had my TopTV installed 2 days after launch but I haven't really watched anything on the service till a few weeks ago.
So, for me, most of the content is still fresh. :P

I'm all for giving them a break but you need to understand that unless people voice their concerns early on, we're going to end up with another Multichoice where the voice of the consumer is never heard.

Go read what TopTV_Wizard had to say on the subject.
"Yawn" indeed.

Yes the mindless fanboi's! You actually think you helping TOPTV by accepting constant repeats?

@vsingh Don't worry I did exactly the same thing as you did.

That made little sense. Of course they are helping toptv by accepting repeats.

so if you go to spur and your waitress is rude, every time - you don't ever say anything to the manager or make a fuss.
is that helping spur, or hurting them?

if nobody tells them whats wrong, they will continue to do it - and lose more customers and not grow.

If Mr Govender does indeed bring us those 15 new channels by October end, and 5 of them are really good, i will personally forgive them for this and wait till March next year when they said they would up their game.

Actually Top TV are scoring some big points by listening to the community with regards to new channels etc and they're at least trying to source the content.

No, you said you are not helping ttv by accepting old ohh nevermind, swoosh (the sound of hand flying over head).

lol, you are arguing his case... I am debating the view, not the person.

(playing the ball and not the player).

You are right though, tell them what's wrong, cancelling toptv is not communication, its just opting out.

I have an idea that people leaving will create a downward spiral in quality.

As is for each new subscriber TopTV would need at the very least 4 months subscription just to break even (price of decoder, dish, installation, marketing, training, new channels e.t.c.).

At present I am quite sure TTV is running at a loss but depending on the subscriber base may or may not break even, get to the point of making a profit and then improve content drastically.

I heard they had to have 130,000 customers in order to break even cost-wise. They planned on doing that within 5 years initially.
They're going to hit that before the end of this year already so they're doing REALLY well.

I dont have a problem with old content but repeating them is unacceptable !!

i asked this question at launch time. because naturally they would not have the natuaral inbetween series story writing / acting problem. so i thought they would rather quickly catch up to current series.

a better solution would have surely been get more old series rather than repeat.
