Futubox

www.futubox.to. it cost me R106 for 87 channels most in HD and mostly sky channels, and it comes with plenty of sport. There is nimbletv for us tv, very expensive if you ask me. All this will need at least a 4meg connection for HD.

I am a soccer fan. on Match day, most of the are spread across the sky sports channels from the UK, Italy and Germany.

Are VPN / Proxy server long stories required? Or is just pay, sign up and watch?

I cannot stream the test channel on the 10mg line at the office, I'm sure I'm going to have hassles on the 4mg line at home.

Yeah... I'm also a bit worried about my 'small' 4meg at home. It syncs at 8meg though.

Thanks for volunteering to test Madman88. Much appreciated :p

if the streaming works on 4mb lines (mine syncs at 6mb's) then this could be the last fix for me to complete my puzzle of getting rid of DSTV - only sticking with DSTV compact for the soccer. My only other concern would be if there is a way or a channel so that I can connect to the streams via my Roku 3? I have a Plex server where all local media is stored and works well with the Roku and also have Netflix, Hulu ect ect up and running so basically want to know if there a similar way to get these streams working the same was aas Netflix?

Nevermind, once reading their FAQ (look at number 10), they say it is possible by downloading the playlist and ten watching on Roku device. now my question is how would I get this right? Tried searching online but nothing... Anyone able to do this yet?

Depends on your quality expectations.

Their FAQ says 2mb/s line for SD, 5mb/s required for HD.

I just found this Futubox Roku Channel installed i to my Roku 3 and the streams work perfectly. Takes max 7 seconds for the show / movie to start playing and all is in HD.

What I find weird tho is I do not have an account with futubox at all but can load the channel and watch certain channels. Only 10 show (7 TV and 3 Movies) but no sport at all and can't see anywhere to add a playlist or even log into an account. Anyone else have this problem or know what is going on? Would like to make sure all works on Roku before I pay for futubox.

Again I have been able to answer my own question. it seems the feeds are dead via Roku: "3/18/13: Reported: Feeds are dead and lockup ROKU box so you can't Play other channels.". You can still get some of the channels to work (hence why only a few show up) but still unsure as to why I was able to access the channels through the roku without paying any subscription.

Anyhow, what I was able to view worked perfectly and great picture quality. If only there was another way to get this to work???

Mmmmm...I've been wondering about this for a while. I already have 10m line uncapped. Just battling to find the right service for my sport. I already use Netflix for my movie needs. Might be worth a one month trial at that price.

There is a 3 day trial at 2.95 Euro.

Time to start the next Test and see how this goes on server 2 as the Primary :)

Will report back in the morning.....

EDIT:

HD Playback for me is up to ****. I am getting major stuttering on my 8MB ADSL with AfriHost Uncapped Account.

SD Playback is working like a charm.

So it looks like i might be to far from my exchange as there is to much noise on my line.

I have changed ADSL Router Settings, ADSL Port Reset, Changed ADSL Accounts From IS (OpenWeb Gold Uncapped) to MTN (AfriHost Uncapped), Dropped My Line Speed From 10MB to 8MB.

So i have to wait for VDSL to get sorted out on my side or will try LTE soon and test - Will report back in a few days on this one.

BUT Overall i am very happy as this is cheaper then DSTV and i can at least watch good shows and my F1 When it is on.

I see there is a way to play this directly on a samsung smart tv!

This definitely makes it more attractive.

The HD thing is a real issue tho. Especially since I can stream 720 from netflix without lag most days.

Well, this was my experience. Signed up for the 3 day trial which was pretty painless. Should have been free like Netflix but in any case. Logged in in Internet explorer...and none of the streams would work on my 10m line. :-(

I battled for 10 minutes and then decided to give Chrome a try. Worked like a charm! Streams were mostly in HD and all of them started after 3/4 seconds. Channels look great on my projector but I'm still a little bit on the fence for 2 reasons: There's a slight stutter every 20 seconds or so which sometimes causes the picture to pixelate which is irritating. Secondly, if you restict channels to "English only", there are really only 20 of them or so. Only 2 of the english sky sports channels are available being Sky Sports 1 and Sky F1. The sport I watch is Stormers/SA rugby and SA cricket, I'm not sure that would always be on Sky Sports 1. I think I did see Sky sports 2 and 3 in another language though...

I'll test until the end of the trial then decide if I'm keeping it.
