Gadgets to die for

Scary. I love gadgets but I'm not interested in any of those

Now that I dont believe for a moment. Anyone that has seen the Keynote cannot possibly not want the iPhone

In its current form I'm really not that excited about it. Give me a touch screen iPod before the phone comes out and I'll take one of those (my iPod photo has served me well) but would apple really be that stupid?

I need 3G, which it doesn't have. With the next generation of phones set to make use of HSDPA, 3G should be a standard feature on the current mid- to upper range phones, just as GPRS became standard when 3G was introduced. It's a poor showing IMO, and probably a costly oversight seeing that most other phones also have decent music players, with the storage to match. The touch screen alone isn't reason enough to get one.

No - I dont really think it is considering the target market and the fact that ATT doesnt have an extensive 3G service. If it was being launched outside of the US initially like that then it would be a different matter.

US cell technology seems to lag behind the rest of the world for some reason.

Highflyer_GP : I'm sure it will have 3G by the time it gets here. Besides, there isn't that big a demand yet for 3G (Most of the popular phones dont have it yet. Hell, even the D900 doesn't even have it yet). I'm sure this will change in upcoming months though

I don't know about the Iphone.....Steve Wozniak (Co-founder apple) stated he wasn't that impressed with the Iphone either (No 3G). He rates they might get it right with the 2G phone.

And come on R6000 for a phone without 3G?!?!

On another note the PS3 doing really badly overseas and I can't see it doing much better here in SA!

Sony went and put their foot in it by adding Blu-Ray....way to expensive still and harly any media available. Adding DVD support to the PS2 made sense because at the time of its release there was already a fairly large base of DVD users. Now however, there are not millions of ppl with HD televisions etc so what's the point in going Blu-Ray.

From the sales figures the XBOX 360 and WII are thumping the crap out of PS3.

Hades : As has been stated often, they are adding 3G to the iPhone. But currently, the USA has almost no 3G coverage. So there is no point adding it for the US version. Europe and South Africa are a different matter. Expect 3G when it lauches in these areas

Yes, its in the Stevenote, but Apple hasn't release any other info on different versions of the iPhone. I suppose they are busy making sure the 1G ships on time.

zune kinda sucks in that it can be used as a usb drive and wifi feature is restrictive so i'd go for the iphone except that other than the interface and conceptual design the wireless tech, even the camera is somewhat outdated for non-us markets.

THe only thing I want on that list is the Nintendo Wii.... it looks like fun :D

The iPhone is just a phone in the end and I have no intention of paying R6000+ for a phone.

The PS3 is overrated and underpowered and why would I want a apple TV thing when I have PVR and an Xbox (well had anyway:D).... Stupid list really.

These gadgets are only game consoles, phones and media players?

I can think of couple more interesting gadgets than this...

BTW a phone with 3G, HSDPA or even HSPA should not be classed as a gadget anyway, and a phone without 3G belongs in a museum?

I've never had to restrain myself like this in my life. I love gadgeds but they don't come cheap, especially when you have other priorities to take care of. I think the best one are those that fit a person's life style.
