Galaxy Note 8

Those of you that have insurance. What are you paying and who with? I got a quote of R180pm from my insurance. That's for R16k cover.

I'm thinking of rather taking the Samsung care warranty.
 
Upgraded to orea without a glitch... used home_csc and still on xfa.

Will you still get OTA updates?
Please excuse if it is a stupid question.
Using home_CSC - did you need to wipe your Note 8 first?

No, I didn't. Have to mention that I flashed the xef version on Saturday, which is an oxm file, in other words a multi CSC which has xfa in it. I did then wipe my note. The file released today is also an oxm file. If you haven't flashed an multi CSC file before, it will reset your device.
 
Anyone else having problems with Bixby?

Long pressing does nothing anymore and the voice command as well. Short pres still opens the cards, but you don't see your Bixby home screen, just the cards. I have cleared the cache and data, restarted, uninstalled updates, but still nothing, seems like a recent thing. I don't use it that often, but it is useful when driving etc. Also knowing something on the phone is not working properly is annoying AF.
 
Yeah from what i have read seems like the latest update or something recent screwed something up. Well, at least it is happening to a few people and not just us.

havent updated mine yet and my bixby also died. maybe her service is down?
 
Hi guys.

After trying to flash to BTU a couple of days ago, I am getting the following message when I boot into recovery:

-- deleting selective files*
remove failed dir '/system/app/IQAgent' (no such file or directory)

Anything to worry about? Phone seems to be working fine.

Did some googling but nothing much came up.

EDIT: Also, the Samsung Phone Info app being discussed in the S9 thread doesn't show my battery health. Any ideas?

mine is from the area where screen burn in is more of a fashion statement than gold.

seriously though, bought mine in abu dhabi at axiom telecom.

got the oreo update pretty much right after i said my bixby isnt working on nougat lol

Eish, the burn-in though sucks, Samsung should offer global warranties for things like that.
 
I've downloaded Oreo (CSC) XEF
and compared it to a (CSC) XFV
Did a dirty flash No issues.
Used Samfirm to download.
Where i now lost wifi calling and VoLte i see on XEF it has Video
calling from start (Dialer) and not like Vodacom that is selective.
Tested to my Note5 working fine.
Also see it has ability for call recording. Haven't tested this yet.
To me Oreo seems quite snappy.?
than Nougat.
Will play around with Oreo XEF till
Vodacom decides to push Oreo out and flash XFV. Not in a rush anyway
to get back.
