Galaxy Note 8

(CSC) XEF vs XFV

As i am currently on CSC XEF i was interested to see how it compares with XFV.
I found that the Note8, France (XEF) has had 8 x Firmware(Security) updates, so far for the Note8 .
Where the Vodacom XFV has only
had 3 x Firmware (security updates) for Note8.

What phone do you think gets the most love when it comes to updates. My note 4 had a lot but the note 8 not so much love

My s7 edge got the most that i have ever experienced. And the s8 as well. So i will say with regards to updates the s range.... Just my opinion.

I mean note 8 surely should have gotten oreo before s8 imo

The Galaxy Notes tend to start off with poor support. The Note 4 also had poor support up until theiddle of the following year, just like the Note8.

What I tend to find though is that the Galaxy Notes tend to be more stable/less buggy out the door VS. The S Range.

I see the official Oreo, South Africa for XFE is available on sammobie.

Can I flash this XFE on my XFV Note 8?
You most probably already flashed XFE ( from XFV.)
Originally i was XFV.
However, as i am now back from XEF TO XFE, i noticed XFE has no VoLte or wifi calling, Also no Hiya spam protection. (as in XFV.)
However XFE does have video calling on dailer.

Anyone have issues with the carrier connection dropping? Data stops working cant receive or place phone calls/sms's. If i restart phone it works again then after a while stops again.

I got this update today "Update (SM-N950F) latest Firmware Nougat 7.1.1 for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 N950FXXU3BRA2".
Anyway...i got the phone from Mtn but Im not using my contract sim in. Will this make a difference when receiving updates for the device, since providers release updates at different times.

I wonder when Oreo will be released for the Note 8?

If it hasn't stopped troubling i suggest you back up, factory reset. Reflash then factory reset. Then set up again.

I think i need to try this...very random though started a week ago, didn't have the problem before. Some more details:

Its a Vodacom Note 8, i'm using it on cell c. So data works so i can browse the internet but when i try checking my airtime it says not registered on network. I tried the simcard in another phone and it works fine.

It's an XFV Note 8, can i flash Android 8.0.0 using the firmware/directions on this page?

Hi guys.

After trying to flash to BTU a couple of days ago, I am getting the following message when I boot into recovery:

-- deleting selective files*
remove failed dir '/system/app/IQAgent' (no such file or directory)

Anything to worry about? Phone seems to be working fine.

Did some googling but nothing much came up.

There are plenty of hits when you google the term, so I'm not sure how you didn't find any. Plenty just on XDA..

Search this term in google:

remove failed dir '/system/app/IQAgent' (no such file or directory) site:forum.xda-developers.com

Thank you for your reply.

I did as you suggested (hoping I had had missed something when I Googled previously) and copied and pasted the term nto Google. Nothing answers the question.

I removed the section "site:forum.xda-developers.com" from the term and still nothing answers the question.

Seems I may be missing something. Will continue the search.

Thanks again.

Hi

I'm a newbie Android and Note 8 user.
I have a Vodacom issued Note 8 with the XFV firmware, but I am using a Cell C sim.
If I flash this Note 8 with the Cell C firmware (which I think is either XFA or XFE) will the wifi-calling function work using a Cell C sim ?

Thank you

Unlikely, the XFA /XFE is part of a multi csc firmware. If your phone is not already on any of those csc it will revert to i think ARA for those specific firmwares.
