Galaxy Note9

The bigger strorage one comes with 8 gig ram. Someone posted yesterday. U take a 128gig and they upgrade u to higher one at no xtra cost
Yep, saw that. We'll see how the pricing is on Vodacom, but again doubt I'll go for it, unless I sell my Note8 at a decent price.

The Note10 should be 8GB RAM all round, no matter memory variant. I get the feeling that with Note9 one of the memory variants may end up being shafted in terms of updates, and it may be that 512GB. Unless memory variant won't affect FW type.

But doesn't say so on live page, so it didn't happen.... right?
Fanie coming through with them hard facts here! Yep, seems the whole 512GB option is off the cards now. Just 128GB.

Seems we won't have the 512GB option for now, maybe it got pulled last minute. Even on Samsungs website all I see is 128GB, be it With Or Without Contract.

By the way I noticed an error in Samsungs Google Search Ad, the Display URL says Note10

Anyone else pre-ordered from MTN? Did you receive the call from "one of their dedicated agents to complete your application"?

I can't believe how I'm chomping at the bit for this phone. Last time I got like this was for the Note 2.

I wonder if that DeX cable will work with S9+ and Note8? Would be a lot more convenient than the DeX Dock.
I might be wrong, but from what I understand,
that Dex cable is actually just "C to HDMI cable." Now called by Samsung a Dex cable.?
(Read this info a day or 2 back, somewhere on the web ) I'm guessing that The rest of "software Dex" will be stored(hidden?) on device ?

So my question will be, if you have Note 9,
you get hold of any, C port to HDI cable, will Dex be enabled and work ?
Also if its a C to HDMI cable, what's so special about it ?

Post note
just remembered, also reading that its something
to do with "MHL" etc.
So i think i understand more.
Its similar to my old MHL 3 Samsung adapter
that i bought re Note 3..Note 4.

i'm guess no. maybe with a software update it'll be possible.

Eish. :( was hoping it would be possible. Indeed hopefully with a software update, it's probably just a matter ofaking the phone support DeX via a cable rather than routing it through a dock.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Something else I wanted to know is if we can use the Note9 SPen in the Note8, but I guess the Note8 will not be able to charge that SPen, so it would work like just the standard SPen.

The guys at samsung store told me the dex is built into the note 9... Take with a pinch of salt

Since i posted yesterday i read up some more.re Dex.
Found this article from Gadgethack.

https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...-your-galaxy-note-9-into-dex-desktop-0186435/

If you read the Gadgethack article it seems straight forward to enable it on Note 9, with any good " C port to HDMI" with some limitations of how many apps you (generic cable) can open etc. etc
I quote from Gadgethack website....

"There are some minor caveats here, however. If you go with a USB Type-C to HDMI cable instead of the official DeX dock (or the Bixby cable that should be coming soon), you'll be limited to 720p resolution as opposed to the 1080p resolution offered by Samsung's own products. You'll only be able to run up to 5 apps this way, whereas you could run 20 with a first-party DeX adapter. Overall, these limitations are minor compared to the monetary savings you'd get from going this route."
Where Samsung dex cable can open more
Also according to them with" links to Samsung" a Dex cable will cost around R700.
Where you can get a generic "C port to HDMI"
should cost around R200/300 (Amazon.)

Further , i agree with that salesperson. Dex software is built into our phones, but it needs the right "hardware" to trigger it.
After its triggered it will do a further Dex software update to work.

I see Takealot give you a R2500 voucher, if you dont want MTNs monitor.

Anybody know what voice package is part of the MTN deal?

High On Android has so many valid points on why the Note 9 (at it's high price point) is just Samsung milking you for early gen hardware.
