Galaxy Note9

Wow, then it is going for a steal here in Kenya !!! It seems odd - S.A being more first world (supposedly), bigger market etc and yet it is so much more expensive there.

Petrol here is also a bit cheaper than ZA, we pay around R 14.00 per litre. My cellphone plan costs R 300, and for that I get 35 GB data monthly (with monthly roll over), 3000 minutes talk time and 1000 SMS.

Back to the topic - I think I will go and get myself a new Note 9 this afternoon then, from the local Samsung propriety OEM shop. Thanks for the feedback

As for SA being a first world country, that is not really true. Third world and way behind in Kenya in all aspects.

But, my Note 9 on a Vodacom contract, no monthly rollover, is R1200 (includes R300 insurance on the device) and I only get 500MB data and 200 minutes airtime and 200 SMS's.

With those prices I am moving to Nairobi. In SA we are clearly being ripped off

So, yesterday I was walking and my Note 9 fell out of my hand on a tiled floor. I was lucky. Only the screen protector came loose and there were no damage to the device itself. Taking the device out of the Samsung flip cover, I took a minute or so to look at the Note 9. It is actually a damn beautiful device! Everything about it just looks fantastic!

It is just a shame that there is no clear cover that could protect this device properly. I received one with the device and also imported another from the US. Unfortunately, none of them will protect the screen should it fall or bump against something. Does anyone know of a clear cover that would at least offer some protection to the screen?

Screenshot of Linux for Dex,
So far (for me )smoother than Dex itself
All setup ,and working quite smoothly .

This looks awesome :D

Usability wise how is it so far?
Busy fine tuning Linux on Dex.
Similar experience, than using Ubuntu /Linux on your laptop etc.
So for me, it's easier to "navigate" my way around.
For beta version it really smooth (so far)
Way much better than just using Dex.!
Even though you launch Linux for Dex, from inside Dex.
I'm using Linux on Dex with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, on my 50 inch UHD tv
screen. Awesome!
As stated above really smooth and for me, a "near" similar experience than a laptop.! Screenshot%20from%202018-11-12%2016-31-52.jpegScreenshot%20from%202018-11-12%2015-56-20.jpegScreenshot%20from%202018-11-12%2016-21-55.jpeg

I just upgraded via Vodacom online. Now the wait starts.
I received my waybill number for RAM but its not showing on the tracking website, so I assume its still at Vodacoms warehouse

NavStar, (navigation bar) is part of Samsung Good lock 2018.
Not available in S. A.
Anybody interested in changing navigation
buttons (no root) ?

I downloaded the standalone, NavStar apk from APK MIRROR, installed apk as normal and opened Activity Manager app (Play Store)
and then look for NavStar in Activity list.
Tap on NavStar and Activity Manager
will list NavStar shortcuts (2)
Created a shortcut for NavStar by tapping 3 dot menu, and afterwards find NavStar shortcut on desktop/Home page configured NavStar
to your liking.

I configured my navbar to include
screenshot and device off icon

So I got my phone today and I am super excited about it, only question I have is how do you redeem the welcome pack.

I've just received the October OTA update from Mtn. I'm surprised that o didn't have to manually flash it like I always do.

Edit: I see that XFE is already on November so I will probably flash that.
