Has anyone successfully flashed another ROM onto their s2? I've tried and googled the usual steps but allows end up with a signature verification error. Seems a common problem...anyone managed ?

Anyways... I bought one for my GF and here are my concerns with the device.
Before I start listing, I just want to mention the plastic build... The plastic actually makes it lighter more durable, this is not a "cheap" decision from samsung or they would not have included Gorilla glass technology unlike apple, they chose not to take the more durable technology that can only be explained by wanting to save money, i.e. cheap. This results in a device that is extremely fragile even with a bumper. Don't get me wrong, an iPhone looks like a premium device but that's about it. The solid, heavy and compact build make it shatter when it bumps anything too hard. It's been known to shatter from knee height with a bumper.
Problems with the SGS2, I will list everything I can think of although in most cases many people will not really be phased. I don't see any of these as deal breakers.
-No LED notification (Although it does make a noise when it's fully charged which I prefer, overcharging batteries is the best way to make them not last)
-No scrollwheel / infrared sensor? (not sure what it's called but my Desire has one and if I use any phone without one I miss it but that's a personal thing)
-Battery isn't that good but it's comparable to any other smartphone with a large screen, in most cases performs better, remember, the more charge cycles you go through the longer your battery will last.
-Slight Deathgrip, while holding the phone in a certain way I found that the signal drops but I don't think many people will even notice it because it doesn't cut off reception completely
-Comes with Samsung crappy TouchWiz, yes they crapped all over android with their own customisation but this is a personal thing and can be fixed with a root.
-Looks like an iPhone but bigger of course, when the SGS1 came out I didn't even consider it and chose the desire, the SGS2 has a way bigger screen than the iPhone so it's much more distinguishable.
You will get arrogant iPhans blindly bitching at you, I dono maybe they're jealous but they swear blindly that that their iCrap don't stink.
I'm not an Android phanboy, I prefer Android but I can still rationalise, I've played with the iPad 2 and I really like it, it's very pleasing to use. I can see advantages of both operating systems, I don't just blindly defend my purchase.
Android and Apple have taken 2 very different approaches when it come to marketing and Apple chose an awesomely intriguing approach.
Android took a technical approach
Apple took an evolutionary approach, they know people are stupid, they make devices for idiots, and this is win for them. They've made something very user friendly that can still do advanced tasks and has semi advanced hardware.
So, if you feel you are a slightly more advanced user, Android is for you.

I agree, the free Google Nav is awesome, my 2 year old Desire has replaced my Garmin GPS, the Garmin is old and outdated and Google Nav always seems to be up to date

I've found MIUI to be so smooth and responsive, something that Apple has had over Android to be honest.
Did you find the SPB Shell of similar responsiveness? think I'm on MIUI 111180
