On Xbox I always use universal remotes seeing that Microsoft use IR unlike Sony
Still have original PS5, PS3 and PS2 remotes for those consoles.

Currently use Smart Pro 8 for my TV, Hi-fi & Xbox Series X

Luckily with a PS, you can control the DVD section with the controllers.

On an original Xbox you can't enter the DVD section if the IR device is not plugged in.
When plugged in, you still can't navigate the menu with the controller, expecting remote signals.

As part of building a collection, just thought, fook it and get the real thing.
