Hi guys,

I am saving up for a upgrade, and I don't want to buy a Xbox One nor PS4. So I decided to take R8000 in upgrading my current PC. I have a case (Cooler Master Elite 371), fans, OS and optical drive.

Thanks for your time guys!

Currently have a HP Compaq 6000 Pro Microtower. What is salvage HDD? I mainly play Minecraft, but would like to try out first person shooting games with my new build.

Are you wanting to use the same HDD in the new machine? or new HDD?

New HDD please, because my current HDD is so outdated! It max capacity is 70GB.

Ok in that case, throw it all out :)

R8000 won't get you a beefy gaming PC, but it'll get you something acceptable, esp if you mostly play minecraft.

Would I be able to play Minecraft with shaders? I am really eager to play it with shaders, Minecraft looks awesome!

And BF4? I will be more than happy with a low-medium graphics setting.

I am playing on a Sony Bravia 40" in 1080p, but my max resolution is 2560x1440.

Durbanville, why are we so expensive in our PC components? Newegg is cheap, too bad they don't ship to South Africa. I do know about Rebel Tech, but is there cheaper sites?

Prices went up with the Rand's decline, situation was better a while ago.

Is there any chance of upping your budget to say R10k or are you firm on R8k?

Also will you be overclocking?

Have a look at Wootware.

R10 000 max... I have looked at them, but not so good. Forget to mention that I want a Intel CPU and AMD GPU.

R10k sounds good. Yes, most suggestions here will be intel cpu & amd gpu. powercolor amd gpus are pretty popular due to price paired with a asrock MB.

Do you intend overclocking at any stage?

Is PowerColor reliable? Don't they have a problem with cooling? Is it worth to overclock? And does it improve performance big, or slightly?

Yea i was just about to say rather save up 10-12k then you can get a decent machine you will run most games maxed out

AMD Cpu's are alot cheaper

For instance the I7 4770k is slightly better then a 8350 from AMD but the I7 4770k is almost triple the price

Same as Nvidia and AMD GPU'S, Nvidia has recently gone mad with pricing where AMD GPU'S are cheaper for the same thing pretty much.

I have not heard complaints about the powercolor cards here, people like them for their value for money. The R9 270 would suit your budget.

I'm gonna leave this for someone else to answer as I don't know what the gains are. If you do decide to OC then you would have to look at a Z97 series board, if not the H97 will be fine.

Won't mind going full out AMD, but I am not a expert in these type of stuff... Could someone advice me a build please?
