Please contact the administrator.

Happening on all international sites (thankfully not myADSL or Dr.Boot)! 16:00 Friday

So, does anyone know what is going on? Anyone else get this? Why?

Damn Telkom! [:(!]

Welcome to the SAIX transparent proxy....

Nope. Taken from the usage tracker:

Downloaded : 1.4312 GB for the month
Uploaded : 200.5592 MB for the month
Total bandwidth used : 1.6271 GBfor the month

Sorry, only saw Cerebus' post when I replied! And I can't find the edit post button (if there is one). What is a transparent proxy?

Edit: I found the edit button! Go me.

I think that has more to do with the NAT (Network Address Translation) of the router. The router can't connect to the web site and reports back the failure.

Great stuff. My router can't connect! For the first time in history it is not Telkom's fault!

Any ideas why my router can't connect? It's the brown USB one with 'ADSL USB POTS' on top.

I'm getting the same message on all International requests.

It is not my local Netgear router - I know its messages.

it is not my local proxy server

So it must be Telkom.

The unprofessional approach of the Proxy owner is obvious as he did not set any identification information on the error message.

A telltale of a incompotent person impersonating competence.

Another example why a SLA of "best effort" is not good enough.

Oh bog. It is Telkom. That's the thing with ADSL - all problems go back to Telkom eventually.

I think a transparent proxy is when all traffic of certain protocols (http, ftp) is automatically redirected by the ISP to a proxy server.

Ie. it's a setting on the ISPs side, you can't control it.

So ALL your http (not sure about ftp) traffic is going through Telkom's transparent proxy.

I stand to be corrected :)

God bless,

Richard :)

We had the same problem at about the same time. I listened to music on telkoms adsl technical support line for abour 40 minutes when it suddenly came right by itself ???? or telkom fixed it

Hi Kaspaas

If memory serves there was a question or two about service support, but this was definitely not the focus. It had more to do with service satisfaction and what needs to be done to retain your custom.
