Wouldn't be too hard to implement. Just use their badge number rather as that's easier to get than their ID number. But totally doable...

This is only for Metro\Saps though correct? I cannot see a legal reason why you are required to provide identification to a company. You have every right to refuse as much as they have a right to refuse services.

Any traffic law enforcement officer. I haven't read the RTA in a while, so can't say for certain. But my gut tells me that you are not obliged to provide your details at a roadblock to a private company. Only law enforcement. I do suspect that the officers wee recording the id numbers, which makes it a grey area.
 
Last weekend I was pulled over randomly from the N12 highway for a spot check. Difficult to do in peak traffic I suppose which is why they choose the weekend. Which is why I will avoid travelling anywhere on the highways, no recreational travellling for me, strictly business. As more people do the same, expect a recession from the likes of Sandton city, who would in time, only cater for people living in Santon, thus losing business. Malls go out of business or are forced to downsize. On the other hand, it opens up opportunities for smaller businesses in suburbs ring fenced by highways.

I'd have it off their police id number - which may be on a badge. I'm not sure. It is on their appointment certificate.

I'd just like to see the faces when they want to check your licence against their outstanding fines system while you check any allegations of corruption against them. Sauce, goose and ganders.
 
Having a conversation with a friend - he is of the believe that those officers who would ask for bribes are the same ones who will withhold their identity and not give a report card.

They're getting MASSIVELY desperate now.

so some guy called into 702 earlier and said he was stopped on the onramp and they said he cannot use the highway as he doesnt have an etag!!!

Sure - and if they withhold their appointment certificates you are free to move along.

This is why everyone should have a Bees Roux in their car. That's how you deal with corrupt traffic cops.
 
Your input is really helpful today, can you guys please keep posting the roadblock info here thx. I avoided one when I had to go to a supplier 2 hours ago thanks to this thread.
