Thought I'd start a thread related to problems in the province - may help us get things resolved a bit quicker.

Malvern East/Wychwood: -95dBm 97% signal strength, unable to connect to the Cell C network. If a connection is made, no data throughput, and web pages time out.

-95dBm is a pretty damn weak signal, thats practically on the floor.

Just inserted my MTN sim: -99dBm 69% signal strength, able to connect with the following results:

Dongle was in the same position as when it had the Cell C simcard inserted, and yielded similar results, but with a weaker signal.

Only a slight increase in download speed, but a nominal increase in upload speed?

Is it me, or is Cell C in my area just ***? My home address falls in a red zone on the coverage map, so not sure really.

Something interesting happened today...

Malvern East/Wychwood: -73dBm 98% signal strength, able to connect, with the following rather awesome results:

Not the greatest speed with regards to the wooosh being advertised (or some of the results posted on these forums), but a huge improvement. Upload is kinda meh, too. Maybe another tower has been erected locally or something. Whatever the reason, hope they keep it up. :)

Just checked the coverage map, and it would appear that the area South of where I live (Germiston/Rand Airport) now has coverage. Though, whereas my address previously fell in a red area, it's now pinkish. Maybe why I don't have wooosh? Then again, I had more problems when it was red, it seems. :D

Randpark Ridge seems to be going at between 25 and 40kbps ... So dial-up speed.

RSSI is -69 with 99% HSPA+ signal

Wow, they added 3G in my area!

-77dBm, 95-99% WCDMA, right under my table...

A ping to www.myadsl.co.za gives this :

122 packet sent ; 4 packets lost (4%)
min time : 31ms
max time 3892ms
average : 375ms

It looks like it's spiking badly here. Every 6 or 7th packet 1500+ MS ... and looking at the doiwnload graph while trying to get the video, shows the spiking

Halfway house/Midrand

I am having lot of issues with the cell c internet from 1st Jan. It
worked fine until 31st December. The problems are the following.
1. Sometimes there is no network coverage at all so i can not connect
to internet.
2. Sometimes there is only EDGE network and it is very slow.
3. Sometimes there is 3g network and i can connect to internet but the
pages does not load at all.

I have logged a call with cell customercare last week and nobody
contacted so far. I have the call centre again to check with the
reference number and the call centre agent told me that the issue was
sorted out and the call is closed.

All clear this morning in Randpark Ridge - unfortunately I'm off to work to use their net ;)

But hoping nothing changes before tonight

Same problem here in Midrand......

Here in Centurion today I have a very strong HSPA+ signal but no speed. No whoosing today....

It's almost approaching what I had with Vodacom :/

I've had Whoosh for about a month now - and been *down for about 4 days ... more than 10%.

I've been raving about this connection because when it works, it really works! Great signal in my area too with 99% HSPA+ signal and RSSI of between -70 and -75. Are the other smaller cities that they launched first having issues - or just in Gauteng?

* Down is either zero throughput, highly unstable and almost unusable or speeds of under 256kbps.
