Gearbest.com - Any good?

Friend of mine got hit with 5k in customs penalty fees on a 3d printer because Gearbest seller put a ridiculously low value of R150 on the unit..

From Gearbest's side they're coming to the party to help with the situation, but it's good to note for future reference that one might have to ask them NOT to undervalue an item?
I've been putting that in the "comments" section on my orders lately.

They obviously haven't sent it out yet so their is nothing to track, I wish they'd alert you about the delay.

The best option would have been to refuse the delivery and have Gearbest resend it?
 
I notice that all items need to be from the same warehouse to have them sent together, not liking that considering there is a difference in price in both warehouses

Yeah I thought as much but then how and why can they charge for 5-7 day shipping?

There’s no where in the order to chat / find out what is going on either.
 
I placed a order for a Mi 6 on 11.11. I still don't have a shipping tracking number. I paid for the Aramax priority shipping. It's been 16 days...Not been a great experience so far. The phone better be legit when/if it comes...

Your shipping IS 5-7 days. Dispatch can take 2 weeks, and customs clearance can take 2 weeks...

Ahhh... well that was never mentioned correctly then. No where (that I could see) did it have mention of that - only thing they mention is shipping time.

So, the guys in my office all want one of these android andoid boxes. How many can I bring in at one time? I would need atleast 5 at this stage, possibly 8.

Mine got lost in Dubai for a week. finally got shipped yesterday morning, waiting for the customs leeches now.

The 5-7 days is for shipping only. From the time it is received at Aramex to when it gets to you. The processing time also needs to be taken into consideration as they sometimes have to wait for stock, there can be delays at Aramex, etc. I normally expect packages in 10-14 days from payment if all the items are in stock.

I know of people who bring in more then 5 at a time but it is a weird one. In theory, it has a Wifi chip so ICASA suppose to monitor it and stop more then 5 but don't. PM me and we can chat as I have a few left over from a previous order.

Can you maybe ask them to add an option for Sa orders to not split orders up but rather only send them together when everything is in stock?

I ordered 3 of the same thing to lessen the R24 parcel charge at the Po and they go and send 1 on its own and 2 in a separate parcel.

I will request the update. They currently do not have the option. Normally for me, they do split the packages but because I select Priority Line (Aramex), it saves me as it means the cost of each package is less and I don't pay customs.

Quick update, GearBestZA has been trying to assist me but without luck.
Paypal are still investigating and hopefully i will get some feedback soon.

The tracking number i was given is still untraceable and i am not going to try and track it anymore as i am not planning on accepting the package.

So you paid for aramex shipping but they decided to send it to you via mail? I think this time of the year is when they are most problematic

This is a bit of a mess from GearBest and I would like to apologize to anybody facing this issue. The only main option to resolve this is to wait the 45 days and when it fails to deliver, esculate to the Bank and PayPal for a refund. PayPal should note it is lost and not delivered and should refund. It is unfortunate that so much time has to be wasted to fix this issue.

Do note that it is not only SA facing this issue. It is just that shipping airmail to every other country is normally a lot more quicker and stable compared to SA which is unfortunate. I have esculate to GearBest to find a new process to fix this but to no feedback thus far. They are a very big company (still not acceptable) and I speak to the marketing department and they hands are tied with these kind of issues. Since SA is not a very big market (also not acceptable), they have requested that the support center be contacted to try resolve this.

PayPal is always there and so is the bank so if you can prove non delivery within 45 days, please esculate it. It is not the best route but rather not be out of pocket in case it never arrives.

Yip, anything ordered now with ordinary airmail postage/shipping will probably only get delivered after February. Xmas shopping creates one huge jam up at Sapo.
