Gearbest.com - Any good?

So I guess will have to wait till next year to start ordering anything.

Yip, anything ordered now with ordinary airmail postage/shipping will probably only get delivered after February. Xmas shopping creates one huge jam up at Sapo.

Anybody/Thing sneezing gives SAPO a jamup.

I placed an order and paid on 11.11. My order has still not shipped more than 14 days since payment. I opened a ticket requesting feedback on my order two weeks ago. They replied, confirming stock and saying its ready for shipping. Today i get a response on the same ticket saying "We are in the business of processing your order now. However, please note the item below is currently back ordered." Order is still not shipped and have no idea on what is going on.

Terrible experience so far and I am giving @GearBestZA one last chance to see WTF is going on with my order before cancelling and having to go through that shlep of a process.

Gearbest seems to have stock issues lately.

Made me realise those eBay sellers that mark orders shipped within minutes of placing the order could be shipping your order at anytime from 1hr to 2 weeks after you place it, because you'll never know unless you remember to try decipher what the package says the shipped date was when it arrives for collection at your Po.

Yeah my order is still showing not shipped and it been 2 weeks minimum already. Will see what happens.

Especially with Christmas around the corner the deliveries might take even longer.

Feedback has been slow from them. I requested information but I am here in SA so time differences does make it hard to get feedback. I have the guy on Whatsapp but he only responds when he is available and that makes it a very slow process to get feedback.

The processing time has taken far to long and it is up to you whether you want to cancel. The refund process back to Paypal is actually quick and normally is done in a few days. Apologies for this as there feedback has not been the best and even though this does not happen often, it does happen which is not acceptable.

Ordered a watch from Gearbest on 20 Nov (to try avoid the Black Friday rush) and it still has not been shipped 3+ weeks later. Latest from support was that it "expects" to ship between 11-23 Dec, the 4th date I've been given after the "ships in 3-5 business days" on the item's page. So maybe, taking shipping through SAPO into account, I might get it in March or April if I'm lucky!

Now my ticket has this reply:
We are attempting to prepare your order for you as soon as possible.
However, please be aware that our warehouse is currently seeing an increase in incoming shipments,
That may unfortunately slow down the outgoing process of your order.
This is due to updating our stock availability, to offer all of our valued customers the best products currently available on the market.

Please rest assured that we are working around the clock to resolve this issue.
We kindly ask for your patience during this slight delay.

The situation will get back to normal within 3-7 business days.

Always the run-around.

3 weeks+ is not a "slight" delay! This was my first order so what are the chances that I will order from them again? Not 'frikken likely!!

So just be warned if you're thinking about ordering from Gearbest, the low prices sound attractive but you have to weigh up the fact that they will most probably take weeks and weeks to even ship it and then an additional 3-8 weeks wait for it to arrive.

So just be warned if you're thinking about ordering from Gearbest...

It's posts like these that make the R750-R950 profit which Mobile in Africa puts onto phones like the Mi A1 look not so bad. When I click ORDER, I don't want to wait weeks for delivery

I have always had good service from Gearbest.

Ordered in Nov and received within a week.

Always using at least Priority Line.

Another response from FB this time (now the 3rd one with the 3 options):

Unfortunately, this order is not ready yet. The item your ordered is a hot sale and there have been significant supply issues with the manufacturer. We are as disappointed as you and feel let down by the manufacturer. We wish to apologize unreservedly for this situation.
In this case we can offer you 3 options:
Option 1: Wait a little longer.
Once we ship it we will send you an email with the delivery information.
Option 2: Exchange for another item of your choice.
Please send us the link of the product you would like to choose instead.
Option 3: Cancel and refund in full to you on your original payment account.

This is the first time in many years of ordering overseas that I've had to wait more than a few days for the item to be dispatched, never mind 3 weeks. Maybe the manufacturer has let them down but after 2 weeks of silence I had to chase this up otherwise I'd still be sitting in the dark. I feel that after 1 week they could have at least let me know and kept me informed, yet it took 5 days just to get a half decent response to 2 tickets on their support system and PM's through Facebook. I was beginning to suspect they were just ignoring me.

Anyway Gearbest, thanks for the apology, get your problems sorted out and ship my item.

Amazingly, the product webpage on Gearbest right now says very clearly: Dispatch: Ships on Dec 13 so who is misleading who? Here's a thought: If I cancel and reorder will I get it quicker?

Apologies for your unfortunate situation. Cancelling and reordering won't make a difference as you are in a line and as stock arrives, it is allocated by who ordered first. The main issue I see is that they are informed by the manufacturer that on request, they can get an item in a time frame and mostly can but sometimes do face issues where they can't.

They have also been flooded with year end orders but it is still no excuse why they did not contact you. Also, the dispatch date is an estimate but they do need to update it. PM me the order number and information and I will ask them for feedback on when they can expect stock. If they don't have a time frame, we will see what can be arranged.

My order from Gearbest via Aramex has been stolen it seems. Unfortunately the description was smart phone watch and Aramex has been having issues with anything with phone in the description.

Did you have insurance?

Payed via PayPal,but will ask for a refund from Gearbest first.

That insurance add-on in checkout is a scam to milk more money from customers, pay with PayPal, that's the only insurance you need, klaar.

So, another retailer has let me know that they have stock of the watch I wanted but that Gearbest still has not sent. Do I cancel my Gearbest order and order through the other retailer or stick with Gearbest in the hope that they might actually ship it soon?
(To recap: I ordered and paid 20 Nov - 25 days ago and it still has not shipped)

This is a tough situation. Did you request feedback on why they are taking so long to ship? What is the status of the order? Drop them a message on the support center and ask them to advise on when they can expect the item to be in stock and ship. GearBest is very fair and try assist but sometimes they are awaiting stock and cannot get a confirmed date by which the stock will arrive. If it is available locally and at a decent price, might be acceptable to cancel and order locally.

Just a note, Ive been trying to contact the support team via the live chat and facebook messenger. Both options failed and I had to resort to the ticketing system that takes ages. The 24 hour live chat is not very "24 hour" nor is it very "live".......

The only reason I'm not cancelling so far is the R/$ exchange rate has improved since I ordered 25 days ago, so I will lose money with a refund. I'm afraid I don't think Gearbest has tried very hard with this situation at all, maybe one small order on the grand scheme of their things isn't much to bother with. Every time I've contacted them I get a sugar coated canned response apologizing but promising nothing except that they'll send an email when they actually do ship.

Amazingly, two days ago my order changed from "Processing" to "Packed" but it still hasn't shipped...
