Gearbest.com - Any good?

SO I am trying to order the Oneplus 6 with Aramex. But the last time I ordered the Oneplus 5T gearbest sent my order with Singapore Post. For those who have bought the phone and it came via Aramex, please advise on how you did it.

I ordered an item at the end of March. 17Track says it arrived in the country end of May, but its still not been captured into our local postal system :( Any idea on what the wait time is like?

I would open up a ticket on support.gearbest.com and ask for a refund. It should not be taking so long to arrive and something probably happened to it.

Send me a PM with your delivery address and I will advise how to change it to ensure Aramex ships with no issues.

Have to say first time Im using Gearbest order for the first time via priority line shipping got nailed big time for customs for R825. I am not impressive at all!

I phoned them Aramax about this and told is there anything else afterwards and they said no so EFT payment. So I really need the package.

Shortly afterwards I did the payment I got another Invoice I have to another R320 for more Customs. I phoned the same person they I told him that I am not paying for it! I already pay for it. Why must I pay more!?

If theres how Gearbest business works then I'm out.

What did you buy? Somethings, like clothes, attracts more customs/tax fees and can get very expensive. Really not Gearbest fault.

Ordered bit of various stuff. Such as phone covers, tempered glasses, back support brackets, 5 mini keyboards for media usage, USB converters, some pouches for my gaming controllers , 2 x USB hubs and a Anime figure. That's it. No clothes, phones, or androids boxes are involved.

Received my Honor 10 from Gearbest yesterday. Amazing phone. Thanks to everyone posting on the various threads on my broadband. I read all the threads before deciding to pull the trigger and closely followed the advice and the process went without any serious issues. I think the key is patience. Big shoutout to GearBestZA
I will definitely order from Gearbest again using Aramex. FYI my tax and customs amounted to about R1300

I might be wrong but you will be paying about 25% tax on those items. 15% vat + 10% for ordinary goods. Gearbest can not do anything about our corrupt government.

What did you pay for shipping?

Yeah I am in the same boat. I have a smartwatch stuck somewhere in the main postal service centres (Or on one of their handlers wrists). It is because the postal service was on strike again. Contact Gearbest and let them know you have not received it yet. They may be able to do something for you.

Yeah I ordered a smart watch in MArch via gearbest and chose priority (Aramex) and Gearbest still sent it via singpost (postal service) and I still have not received that watch. I contacted them and told them I chose Priority, why did they send it via postal - they apologised and wanted to credit me for priority shipping. I was astounded, I am not probably going to get the watch but they want to credit me the shipping cost.

Anyway Gearbest did contact me to find out if I had received my watch and I told them I had not. Since I had not taken out insurance on the item (since it was supposed to come in via Aramex) They asked me to pay half of the cost of the original item and they will send it via Aramex again. I did this and the item is now waiting to be delivered to me this week.

All in all though I have not saved any money through this escapade from buying overseas from Gearbest than if I had purchased it locally.

I wish this was the case. My order in total $220 and I have to pay R1100+ in custom more like 50%.

You guys are making me scared now. What kind of duties should I expect to pay for my $145 ~R2000 phone?

Btw postal service is about a 2 to 3 months waiting time.

I like the postal service as customs are usually pretty low if any but take ages to come and when it passes customs and you get local tracking number it can be redirected to a couple of post offices before it finally lands at the right one. Then it's a mission to collect as they no longer send collection notices instead they send you a sms that actually never arrives and you have to force the post office emloyee to search for your parcel.

I was actually turned away from the post office once when the local tracking number showed the parcel was there but because I did not get a sms she refused to help me saying she eill have to search for a parcel that can take hours.

I find declared value of packages to be a catch. If it is under-declared (Illegal), you pay less customs and becomes more feasible if you don't get caught. If you do, you might get in trouble if you did not know it was under-declared and there are ways to trick customs and get away with it. If it is full value, then customs charges far to much most of the time and try make it hard and not financially worth it to import.

Do you prefer to have it under-declared or full price declared? Please let me know here.

I can ask them(you know who) to do one or the other but they can't add an option to the website unfortunately. As far as I am concerned, I pay enough personal income tax and fuel tax for me to tell customs (government) to go jump of a tree. I am not saying that I don't pay customs at all as I do. But a lot less. I don't declare everything under R500, but if it is expensive stuff, will have it cleared at $100. $200 phone, declare at $70 and pay R300-R400 customs for a R3000 phone. 10-15% is what I am willing to pay. I do not believe companies are charged the same fees, so why are we?

I am using my personal account as the above is my personal belief and does not represent any company. A lot of people are willing to "Bend" the rules but some are not. I can post here and still give support but some people contact me only after the item arrives which is generally far to late.
