General coffee thread

Things are a bit tight financially so I am trying the cheapest beans I can find locally. Got this at Checkers on specialy for R260 for 1KG. It's not amazing, but taste better than the Terbidore coffee I had last week.

If you have patience and a bit of luck to go through all the bags checking out their production dates then sometimes you get a rather fresh bag a few weeks old. More aromatic and well worth the time looking through all the dates.

I see Terbidore is opening a new roastery in Howick. Saw them setting up new machines and stuff in town.

I’m on about 3–4 cups a day now—used to crush WAY more during stressful years 😅 Coffee was basically my emotional support beverage.

Funny thing is, caffeine barely affects me. I can drink a cup, lie down, and fall asleep instantly. Meanwhile my friends can’t touch coffee after late afternoon or they’ll be staring at the ceiling all night. I guess it’s just genetics + tolerance.

I take mine with milk, no sugar these days. Used to take two!

(And here’s the Starbucks updated menu link once you send it.)
Not to be confused with the Starbucks thread :)

1. Feel free to state your consumption
Mine is about 4 cups a day. A few years back, I was on approx 10 a day. I was going through some very bad emotional times and it was my little security blanket. Woe the person who stood between me and my coffee!

2. I was wondering - without feeling the need to Google it - why some people are so affected by the caffeine in coffee and others not?
I have friends who will have their last cup at about 18:00, because otherwise they will be up all night and won't be able to sleep. To this day, I can have a cup, climb in bed immediately afterwards and fall asleep. It does NOTHING to me.

3. Do you drink it black, white and how many sugars?
Me = 1 and 1/2 sugars and milk.

I became caffeine intolerant 10 years ago so had to switch to, erm, decaf.

Hardly any choices and flavour not the best.

Anyone else in this situation, who do you buy from?

I saw these guys win an award in the Coffee Mag Awards. Ordered from them a while ago and must say they are really really good. CPT based.
