A"war room" is ruling party speak for a cigar lounge where they can discuss how to make money off of the crisis.
 
I can't believe Eskom's lack of transparency:
  1. The imminent blackouts were obvious from their reports earlier in the week.
  2. They could not possibly have believed last night that Stage 2 would end at 8h00 this morning, as they said
  3. They cannot be sure that Stage 2 will end tomorrow at 5. Current blackouts are just the beginning ....

Maybe they do so because unless something changes they can only guarantee that stage. Could just mean we might be stage 8 tomorrow at 8.

CoCT have already asked the hight court to push forward the date (originally set for May IIRC), but not sure what is happening with that.

To be honest I don't have a huge amount of confidence in CoCT given they way they have handled roof top solar, both residential and larger at business parks etc.

I am still waiting for my supplemental signed agreement returned along with a letter for commissioning approval. It has been with them since the middle of November.

Would still like the basis of that.

If they actually wanted to end load shedding, they could probably do so in <2 years with renewable from IPP, but there's no way government would do it.
 
Well I find it very interesting that every time Eskom wants more money ,that within minutes of that becoming known, that LS gets announced. Seems like emotional blackmail. No dpoubt there are Eskom that deserve their bonuses but that should not include anyone in a management position. In fact all senior management should even be taking a salary cut.
 
These temperamental conveyor belt systems that are always breaking down. Are they perchance fancy computer controlled systems driven by sweatshop code?
What actually breaks? After all conveyor belts have been in existence for hundreds of years, all of a sudden so many failures?

Well conveyors break it's rubber it happens but it's been breaking for years and the fact that Medupi does not have a backup conveyor is well disappointing to say the least. Conveyors run 24/7 with loads so they break and often too why did they not build 2 so that they can be maintained properly. Shut down one do maintenance on it and run the second one. One would have thought they would see that from the old power stations.

They can't blame money for not building 2 because they are so far over budget anyways. If the belt is a problem like this so early when the station is not even completed it certainly won't last.
