General Photography

Haven't had a chance to use it yet, gonna go down to the Harbour later on tonight maybe.
 
I need some advice. Someone asked me to take some photos of one of the matrics for the local Matric Dance.

Any advice on which lens would be best suited will be appreciated. Don't know if I should go with a zoom or prime or both.

The photos will not be taken at the dance itself, we are looking at using some old deserted farm house for taking the photos.

What lenses/bodies do you have to choose from? What sort of look are you hoping to achieve? etc etc

How are you going to light it?

An okay-good price, though one would be better served waiting for the 6D's price to come back down to the R14k figure it had earlier in the year.
Better sensor, better functionality menus and settings-wise, GPS and Wifi built in and, most importantly, a warranty.

R14K for the 6D - that was what Randhir just bought & was struggling to find for 20K the other day huh..

Yeah, my uncle and I were discussing him replacing his current crop-oriented equipment with a full-frame recently, and mulling over a second-hand 5D Mk II and a new 6D, and at the time we were originally talking about it one could have picked up a 6D for R14.3k from Cameraworld in Bellville. I was even considering picking one up for the wedding I shot mid-July, at which time it was still R15k for the body-only or R23k or so for the 24-105mm kit.
 
Going to Disney and Paris

Taking the family across the channel tomorrow for a trip to Paris and then on to Disney and I'm wondering iPhone or 1D…

Brought both but the 1D spent most of the time in the car boot and after two days at Disney I dont regret the decision.
 
what you guys think? Looking to upgrade my 1100D Canon body. been looking at 650D, 700D and 60D. 70D is a bit out of my price range?
 
So I sold my 300mm f/2.8 and now I'm looking to do some shopping - my sigma 24-70 f/2.8 has been acting up recently and, as much as I love it, I need something a little more reliable. I'm thinking that since I'm finding the 70mm a little short at times on my FF camera the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens might be a good alternative. Does anyone who has one regret not getting a f/2.8? I'm mostly going to be using it in relatively poor lighting conditions but the high-ISO capabilities of my camera should make up for the one stop loss in aperture.
