You should definitely remove the filter… and leave it in your bag for when conditions demand it. I'm referring to sand storm conditions in a desert or on a beach. Of if your lens requires one for weather proofing and it's raining.
Get a hood though.

Unless you happen to have an extraordinarily high quality one that presents with virtually no visual artifacts.

Read: depending on the size, unless your 'UV' filter cost you around R700+, it's likely to flare and ghost like a mofo.
All that being said, that kind of flare you're getting looks to be almost entirely internal reflections.
This reminds me - I've got this little Hoya Pro-1 Digital 58mm CPL that, for whatever reason, began producing a milky image from the center on my EF-S 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm lenses (latter now sold) with minimal polarizing effect (yes, I'm certain I was using it properly - I've another CPL for another lens that works better than this one ever did anyway), yet now on my new 50mm f/1.4, this old CPL works flawlessly and seems to polarize better than it did before? Anyone got any ideas of what's going on? I was just about ready to turf the thing or find a different use for the mount and rings...

Only just bought the camera/lens & forgot to stick it on before i packed.

Anybody know of a photographic shop that offers credit when purchasing?
I know GAME, DionWired, etc do credit but they do not stock the D7100 I am interested in.

Best is to arrange credit beforehand (like bank or RCS) and then buy where you get the best deal. With cash you can negotiate. If you come hat in hand you are at a disadvantage.

I was admiring earlier their high quality, short/long duration comparison image,if i can spot black brushing its not a good sign but then again maybe the right side image was from a Canon...

I recently took the plunge and bought myself one of these, I've wanted one for many years now and decided that I've waited long enough:
It's a great little lens that's known for it's sharpness and bokeh. I would have loved to get the 100mm, but unfortunately it costs more than what my budget allowed.
It's a great lens for macro and portrait/landscape photography and produces great vibrant colours.
I haven't been able to really try this lens out yet, but I'm happy with the few test shots that I've taken with it.

Recently moved to a new house.... After 2 weeks of searching I just can not seem to find my old (t)rusty tripod.
After doing some looking around and emptying the swear jar I decided to order this: http://www.kalahari.com/cameras/Hahnel-Triad-40/5610/46961074.aspx
I know they are a well-known face in generic batteries, grips and trigger release cables. Not a lot of info about their tripods though.
I remember fooling around with the Model30 in a shop a while ago and was impressed with the stability and also the quality of the ball head. So decided to get the slightly better model. Will report back once it is delivered. Probably Friday.
I simply cannot afford the tripod I really want at this stage, which is the new Manfrotto BeFree. This Hahnel will just have to do for now.

Nice - I've heard good things about Hahnel Triads. In fact I've always said that if I was going to get sissy-sticks I'd get some - probably the Triad 90.

I was having a look at the 50Pg and also the 60 lite. 50 was too expensive for me and 60 has a tilt/pan head.
Looked at the 90 as well. But I'm not planning to do any type of shooting in windy areas or with telephoto lenses. So no real need for the extra weight or stability.
