However, many of the Democratic party’s leaders seem hesitant to endorse the movement, and congressional Democrats just unveiled legislation to reform police departments rather than defund them.

Well heck why don't they just go the whole hog and put a black man in the White House, he will surely sort out all the ills of the black man in America! Oh wait they tried that. Just because you're black doesn't mean you represent the average black person.

I doubt he would've done 2 terms if he made a solid attempt... He may have had a black parent but in reality, he grew up on the other side.
 
I have been reading through their Justice in Policing Act, and I don't see anything in particular which should resolve the current situation unless those who proposed the bill gets a grasp on the situation which should only appear to be the case. This part caught my attention,

yes, I understand the problem and it has been elaborated upon in various studies that I have read, but it the limitations which may be problematic. I think there is a misconception by the lawmakers what it entails. The Problem
Recent incidents of racial and religious profiling with tragic results have brought renewed national attention to this issue that exists in every corner of the country. Unfortunately, new incidents of profiling by law enforcement continue to be reported at an alarming rate. Profiling of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals also continues to be a problem, particularly for LGBTQ people of color and members of the transgender community. A study by Lambda Legal, “Protected and Served?” found that a quarter of LGBTQ people and people living with HIV who reported in-person contact with law enforcement said they experienced harassment or misconduct—including profiling, verbal or physical assault, sexual harassment, or false arrest. The 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey reported that 49 percent of transgender individuals who interacted with officers who thought or knew they were transgender were addressed using the wrong gender pronouns or titles. In addition, 20 percent were verbally harassed, 4 percent physically assaulted, and 3 percent sexually assaulted by officers.

Police misconduct, when left unchecked, not only stigmatizes law enforcement agencies that, on the whole, seek to serve the community with integrity, but also fosters mistrust between the community and police that is difficult to repair.

What is the End Racial and Religious Profiling Act?
The End Racial and Religious Profiling Act would prohibit federal, state, and local law enforcement from targeting a person based on actual or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation without trustworthy information that is relevant to linking a person to a crime. The bill would require law enforcement to maintain adequate policies and procedures designed to eliminate profiling, including increased data collection in order to accurately assess the extent of the problem. The bill would also require training for law enforcement officials on issues of profiling and mandate the creation of procedures for receiving, investigating, and responding to complaints of alleged profiling.

What is the Current Status of the Bill?
The End Racial Profiling Act was reintroduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) on September 16, 2019. The bill was introduced in the Senate by Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) on July 31, 2019, as the End Racial and Religious Profiling Act of 2019.

this is rather political. There is human psychology that we need to understand, data to be collected and interpreted. In my view, it should best be limited in accessibility than to prohibit and eliminate the practice. Looking at the bill, it will have a huge impact. It would limit analytics and behavioural studies in general.

I find it odd that you would think someone calling someone else wrong needs to be offended first in order to do it..... so far I have only seen lefties actually get offended here.... on behalf of people they will never ever actually meet.....

homicide will lead to charges of murder or manslaughter. The officers are still deemed as the culprits for the "homicide" whether he gets 1st degree, 2nd degree or manslaughter charges is for the courts to decide but the fact that both autopsies ruled it as homicide means the officers were guilty of negligence leading the homicide.

His death was not attributed to George being a drug user.

3000 years, 6000 years, 10 000 years... All the same to me, whether the 'age' is opposed by Creationists, dim-witted religious/cultural historians and or by those who oppose dating in general. I was surprised to learn some time ago which people occupies the Creationist space here in SA. Anyway.
