In Minneapolis on 31 May, a man drove a trailer through a crowd. But other attacks with vehicles have taken place.

Anti police-brutality protesters have been confronted by armed men in cities around America in recent days, with some brandishing firearms or other weapons, some driving vehicles at crowds, and others – including members of the so-called “boogaloo movement” – claiming they have come to help anti-racism demonstrations.


On Sunday, in Seattle, a man drove at speed towards protesters, while several protesters tried to slow or stop the vehicle.

One who reached through the car window was shot in the arm by the driver. The driver then exited the vehicle carrying a handgun, which appeared in photographs to have a modified, extra-long magazine. He moved into the crowd, and later surrendered to police.

I find it interesting how South Africans, a whole 4000 plus posts, think they know what African Americans have to live with and have to accept as normal every day. Yet when these South Africans feel oppressed in a system which is designed to only favour a majority and oppress a minority it is a problem.

Go figure.

Is there not a slight disconnect here? As far as I know US laws and regulations are based on absolute equality before the law without mention of race (although there may still be some business and education provisions to benefit the black minority). SA has a plethora of laws and regulations that are designed advantage black people and specifically disadvantage white people who are in the minority, more so than black people in the US.

But it is what it is; racism by government regulation and I am not sure why we generally aren't honest about it. Just don't pretend it is moral or principaled.

A spokesman for the Biden presidential campaign said on Monday that the candidate does not support such efforts, echoing Democrats in the US Congress who proposed sweeping legislation to combat police violence and racial injustice but stopped short of calling for funding cuts to local law enforcement.


"As his criminal justice proposal made clear months ago, Vice President Biden does not believe that police should be defunded," Andrew Bates, a spokesman for Biden's campaign, told the Reuters News Agency.

"Biden supports the urgent need for reform, including funding for public schools, summer programmes, and mental health and substance abuse treatment separate from funding for policing, so that officers can focus on the job of policing."

He believes that can be done within existing law enforcement agencies.

McEnany was referring to Trump’s opposition to athletes who take a knee before sports events to protest racism and police brutality, but the devil is in the details of bad wording. Those — like Trump — who spend little to no time kneeling at religious services likely didn’t realize how obliviously disrespectful McEnany’s declaration sounded.

Human exploitation is a blight on human society. Societies need to address inequality, and shouldn’t be done by exchanging racial, cultural and traditional roles within the political spectrum, but rather to seek cohesion which is why I support spatial addressing. Governments can achieve more by supporting those who promote equality, but equality shouldn’t become a racial criterion. The aim should be the disadvantaged, not those who are advantaged, but the advantaged are also employers by large and they have the means to advance equality.

There is a lot that we all can do as individuals to acknowledge racism within our society which breeds racial distancing. Here, politically, we simply apply it by the demographic numbers and it has been previously suggested to apply these numbers to the geography (or provincially as they said, hence also the bid on amalgamating provinces to also consolidate power). This thread, however, isn’t about us, it is about equality worldwide and BLM should be allowed to be heard within their respective societies, and when they are listened to and have been granted reasonable addressing without compromising societies as a whole then we should move on to other lives which also matters. We don’t solve one imbalance with another.

We generally experience racism on a racial criterion, but we have countries like India, China, etc. where one race is divided by ethnic groups where domination has taken root. To be honest, this applies globally and it has happened here and it is still happening here. Healing must start somewhere and it can begin with BLM, but supremacy and racial nationalism are ideas and ideals which can become entrenched and it isn’t possible to abolish, and movements shouldn't become doctrines which may become that what they sought to overcome. The cause isn’t preventative, even by legislation, but individuals can do better and we can prepare by being appropriately educated.
